Hello once again all knowing mac gurus.

Will an original apple G4 Dual 1.25ghz processor card board from a MDD system fit, mount and work correctly on a 533 dual Digital audio logic board? Can I purchase this item, install it and expect it to work without major headaches or other pains? Would I have to reset anything, change a jumper, etc? It visually looks like the mounting points are similar.
thanks one and all for advice.

Negative. MDD CPUs will only work in MDDs.

what is the story with the prologix and sonnet and other upgrade chips? they are physically the same, ie bolt down with three screws, but designed for a certain mother board?
thanks

The standoffs are different between AGP G4 thru QS2k2 machines and the MDD series. The pinouts may also be different between the two, and there may be different design considerations between the processor cards.

I don't know if it specifically contributes to the incompatibility, but the MDD processor cards communicate with a different controller that is connected to DDR RAM. If the protocols between the processor and the RAM and controller are different between generations, I'd suspect that that is why they won't work interchangeably, and why Apple physically changed them so as not to fit (and not cause damage to the parts when they are put together.)
