Apple and its primary US iPhone carrier partner, AT&T, have
begun formally training their respective support staffs (such as front-desk sales, technicians and call-in support crews) on the upcoming iOS 7, which is expected to arrive alongside the announcement of new iPhones at an Apple media event on September 10. The training, revealed a set of leaked support screens, show overviews of the primary features of the upgrade, including things like iTunes Radio and the Activation Lock which will be part of the enhanced Find My iPhone app.
Numerous carriers and Apple's retail division have already begun
"blacking out" potential vacation days for much of the rest of September, in anticipation of demand and customer questions on both the new OS update and new iPhone models -- which are expected to include a colorful "iPhone 5C" and the long-awaited and internally-improved "iPhone 5S." The phones are expected to hit retail on or around September 20, but iOS 7 is likely to be released before that to help preserve bandwidth on Apple's servers that will be needed when the iPhones reach stores.
AppleCare crews and in-store staff began their official training
last week, following voluntary programs that allowed retail workers to download and use iOS 7 to help familiarize them with it.
Given that iOS users tend to upgrade immediately, Apple is likely to offer iOS 7 on or before September 18. The "golden master" version of iOS 7 is likely to be sent to developers on or immediately after next Tuesday's event, reports
