I AM IN THE PROCESS OF ORDERING MY FIRST MAC A IMAC DV SE WITH 192MEG, AIRPORT CARD AND ISUB. PROBLEM IS I HAVE TO WORK ON A PC AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHICH CROSS PLATFORM SOFTWARE IS THE BEST TO USE.

I use mostly Word/Excell/Outlook at work. Just need to be able ton bring home work and be able to open it on both machines.

Very easily done. Just make sure you buy Microsoft Office for your imac dvse. Then you can easily email documents back and forth (making sure you add .doc to all programs so your PC knows it's a document).

Or, buy a USB floppy for your imac, and using PC formatted disks, exchange files back and forth between the two machines.

That's what I do. I use the Zip though. IT works well and the only trouble I ever had was with multi-media files that are linked into Powerpoint slides. Just have to relink them.

Keep in mind not all USB Floppy drives can read pc formatted disks.

Yeah, if it's like 50 years old

The ability to read PC-format disks is part of Mac OS, not the floppy drive. In fact, most USB floppy drives are cross-platform anyhow (they can be plugged into a PC or a Mac).
