Hi, I was just wondering if anyone knew how to make the HD icon stay where I put it. Everytime I move it, then restart it puts it back in the top right corner. Every other icon will stay where I place it except the HD. Any ideas? Thanks...
btw using OS 9.0.4

There's no way around this one, dude...
Whatever disk you use as startup will always be placed in the top right corner of your screen after startup. It's just "the law" of Macs. I suppose there may be some way to alter it in ResEdit (shiver), but I'm a woos when it comes to that stuff !!

Well, you could make a simple applescriptto move the HD icon to where you want it, and put it in your Startup Items Folder.

A quick search at versiontracker.com for 'desktop' yielded all of these desktop icon position utilities - and i'm sure there's more if you feel like searching further.
Desktop Icon Manager 1.3.1 - keeps desktop icon positions fixed when switching resolutions
Desktop Magician 2.0.1b1 - Save & restore icon positions, windows, apps & more
Desktop Resetter 2.2.1 - restores position/size of desktop icons/windows if they're rearranged
DesktopDemon 1.3 - tool to save desktop theme, icons & window settings
DesktopMinder 2.0 - "save sets of arrangements for apps, folders, aliases, or desktop items"
