have a grey powermac, upgraded from a G3 processor to a 450mhz G4; 512meg ram.
10.3 was on it, and worked (usually ran 9.2.2; but booted into 10.3 this morning)

installed some new apps, fixed some things, upgraded (in software update) everything (to 10.3.4, itunes, etc); restarted; fine.

but

now i can't boot into osx at all! i see the startup screen, but no spinning wheel.

do i need a firmware update? or is it that 10.3.4 2 will not run on the upgraded processor?

help! have work due...

thanx!

i had a similar experince with a powerbook today. The customer had a partial OS 10.3.4 update, and many apps were broken, including the installer. I installed it from my powerbook, and it updated, but broke the boot. I then put my powerbook in target disk mode, booted off the working PB, updated the nonbooting drive with the 10.3.4 installer, and rebooted. worked like a charm.

end of story:
did an archive & install of 10.3; rebooted, working
(had to reinstall a few things).

funny but 10.3.4 upgrade broke the boot process!
