I am getting failures at website with java apps.
No chat, online games, etc...just a pretty pic of a coffee cup with surrounding arrows.
My 10.4.4 says that JVM 1.42 and Java 5.0 release1 are installed.
I went to Sun's website and it identified the versions, but would not load the image in their test frame.
Any suggestions on resetting it? ...or intimidating it?

Couldn't find anything at Apple support.

That's sad that one has to resort to this method to get compatibility. I heard Flash is not functional in Safari with IntelMac, is this true?

Plugins have to be for the same architecture as the thing they're plugging into. It makes sense for Flash, which isn't yet universal, but…why isn't the standard Java plugin? That's just shoddy.

Becuase the Java Runtime Engine has to be byte-compiled to run the "universal" Java applications and applets.

Indeed; flash and shockwave both appear to work just peachy.

Yes they do, quite contrary to some earlier reports I have seen. I haven't found a Java or Flash site yet that doesn't work.

Shockwave installed without problem. Flash content does not display and the plugin won't install. Thoughts?

Thanks.

The Flash-plug-in comes preinstalled on Intel-Macs.

I haven't seen any. I suspect he is having some Shockwave issues, not Java.

Wondering if anyone has had any issues like this? I have one program in particular (Infinite Campus) which used to work on my AGP G4, but no longer works on my new Intel iMac.

I tried running Safari in Rosetta with no change. I also have tried Firefox and Opera browsers.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Richard

For anyone else out there who might run into this problem. I would that if I used the Camino browser for this Java application - it worked perfectly.

For those looking for a quick fix, it works the 30 second download.

Thanks,

Richard
