Will OS X without Classic installed work, and work moderately well, on only 64 megabytes of RAM?

Oh. I forgot. I'm also running Mac OS X on my PowerBook G3 (400MHz) with (also) 64 MB of RAM. On this computer, OS X runs great. Wish I had more RAM though.

It runs but more RAM will certainly be better. I got 96mb rite now and it is constantly using virtual memory. (hard drive)

I took out one of my 64 mb chips to test Mac OS X. It seemed a lot more stable (probably cuz I only left the apple ram chip in there or maby because I didnt use IE). The only problem was that OS X was extreamly slow, so I couldnt bare using it for too long. OS X will run with 64 MB, but I highly recomend against it!

I have a Rev/B iBook with 64MB with OS X. Clearly it could use some more RAM, but the OS is certainnly usable, though slower than 9.1.

After talking to an Apple rep I was told that OS X WILL run on less than 128 megs of RAM. 128 Megs of RAM is the Minimum you need if you want to run classic. OS X should run but a tad slow on less than that. Anything less than 128 and I wouldn't even try running classic. You may as well go out for dinner then come back and it should be loaded by then.

Yep it works. GUI stuff is slow. I live with it. I really should get more RAM. Its really a shame that Quartz needs so much RAM .
