Well, I finally got my iSight working on my x86 Linux box (set up to do some experiments in the lab I want to check in on using the iSight). There is almost no info on the web on getting this to work, so I figure I would post how I did it.

The iSight is a IIDC V3.0 compliant digital camera. So, I found the coriander project. Using it, and the latest CVS of libdc1394, and the iSight came to life! It was actually a farily easy install. So, if there was any other person out there trying to get their iSight working on a linux box, it isnt too bad.

Great work! Even though I 'll probably not use it, I just wanted to show my appreciation for someone who went through all the trouble to make it work.

i don't have an iSight or a firewire pc to test it, but there's a debian package "coriander" that might do the trick, for debian users not wanting to work so hard. from its apt description:
" Coriander is a GUI that lets you control all the features of an
IEEE-1394 Digital Camera complying with the DC Specifications v1.04 or
later (see http://www.1394ta.org)."

the deb coriander wont work... only the latest CVS version of both coriander and libdc1394 are compatible with the iSight.
