When I first got my Macbook it would open iTunes up in 1.3 second now it takes 3.7 seconds for it to open. This is not the only program that is slowing down. Othersare safari, photobooth and even logging on takes longer. Its also taking a bit longer for the items to appear in the title menu (the items that appear on the top left). I have maitnence on my Macbook. Is this a good program to use? I also use repair permissions in the disky utility and I use techtool deluxe. Is there anything I can do to get these programs runinng like they used to?

Go to Finder> Go> Utilities> Activity Monitor> Memory. See if there is any big RAM hogs. If there is, something is either wrong, or you have too many apps open at the same time.

also, this may be blasphemy to a lot of macheads, but sometimes i find that a good old fashioned reboot does the trick.

The first time you start up a program after you restart the computer takes significantly longer than the second time.

Try it: Restart your computer and once it's done logging in, start up iTunes. Then quit iTunes and start it again. I'm willing to bet the difference between the first and the second time will be somewhere around 3.7 seconds vs. 1.3 seconds...

Yeah, that happens a lot. When I put Tiger on my iMac and PowerBook, I had to open everything a few times before it got speedy.
