So I'v got own webpage these day (how doesn't) and I've been using a stat counting php script to monitor who visits my webpage and what OS and browser they're using. My dumb friends have been giving me crap because IE is winning the war for browsers. So I'm asking you to view my webpage (free of charge) in order to make Safari the #1 browser, and for me to smite my dumb PC friends. Is this shameful? Yes. Will it make me feel better when like 50 OS X users visit my page. Super yes.

If you'd like to look at the stats, follow this link.

Safari hit. Nice site.
Looks like the majority of hits are coming from forums.macnn.com....

Yeah, and someone from Iran. What the deal is with that? Too bad my buddy who is in Australia isn't showing up due to the massive firewall at his school.
The only reason Safari was close to winning, is because I would refresh my page every half an hour to get another hit. I'm so bad. Thanks. Any suggestions on how to make my page better, or does it look cool enough? I used a template by Neil Turner, theres a link on my mail page, who does some nice web design.

OK, there's another Safari hit. Now, in return...
Can you tell me (a PHP neoph) about any canned process for keeping the type of stats you do? (my site is hosted on phpwebhosting.com and they do keep stats, but don't have the nifty display like you do). TIA !

Sure thing. I tried several different php scripts before trying this one (I'm very new to using php also). bbclone is an open source (which means free) php script to track individual webpages for you. Its easy to set up, though it took me a couple of times because my FTP client didn't move all the files over properly. Basically you move the bbclone folder over to your webserver, then add a php include on the webpages you want tracked (meaning these pages also need to have a .php extension, not html), and then finally make sure all the folders have the proper permissions. If you do a google search for 'bbclone' you can find a ton of webpages that have been tracking things longer then mine. Heres the link to the bbclone homepage.
http://bbclone.de/
The hardest part for me was figuring which parts of the documentation to ignore, which was a large chunk of it. If you're having problems, send me a message.

I could use a new iPod. Actually, no. This is actually really cool, because now I'm getting hits from a while lot of other countries, which makes me look important. Kind of off sets the original iMac t-shirt I have in my closet.
Maybe you can comment on the cuteness of my kitten while you're at it. Little Wilson does like to paw at my Powerbook, and more recently at my parents new eMac. He does enjoy the attention.

Thats funny, because my biggest problem is spelling, and I've even had friends go in and edit my blog posts because of spelling issues. You can easily see this by looking at my OS X guides. They're riddled with spelling issues.
BTW Beijing is a super cool place. I was there in January with my college orchestra. We toured all over for about 17 days.

Well, I only read through the first post or so, and I didn't notice any problems there

Cool! And so many pictures! From this one, I can see you went to Beidaihe - I just got back from there about two weeks ago, nice beaches

Man, I have like 400 China picture on my webpage. The only way to see them all is to go into the individual picture viewing, and keeping click the picture number. Otherwise at 1024 x 786 you can only see 17 pages (links on the top), and there are far more pages then that.
Oh, and yes, I'm sure the beach is fun during the summer. During the winter is was a bit icy and frozen over. 17 days and several internal flights later, I saw quite a bit of China. Great place. The only problem was trying to tell the guys at the Kodak center that I wanted my memory chip put onto a blank CD, while not knowing any Chinese. A lot of motioning between a blank CD and my chip, and me feeling very awkward.
People back home did not understand that China in the winter is worse then Minnesota in the winter. So damn cold.

My classmates all kept saying that too (while wearing dozens of layers, woollen scarves, thick hats, and sporting coats worthy of Hagrid), but I found the winter here so very nice and mild I could just wear a t-shirt and a North Face jacket-thingy (you know, one of those windproof ones)... odd...

You can also adjust your .htaccess files with the code so you don't have to have PHP indexes on your site. Check out the instructions on the site.

The man with the Trogdor sig is completely correct. I went with the php route because I already was using PHP on my webpage.
Oh, and regarding China in the winter.... I don't know if it was just this January, or what. But it was so damn cold. I had like 5 layers on in the Forbidden City, and I was still cold. Man, it may be cold in Minnesota, but China had us beat this January.

I think my parents are going to have me put a fresh install of OS 9 on it and give it to one of my uncles, who does not have a computer. I mean, what else can one do with an original iMac. Besides make a fish tank out of it. But I already have an SE for that.

Pfft... It hardly ever went below -10, for God's sake (Celsius, that is; +14 Fahrenheit, as well as my maths can carry me), it was lukewarm!!! I've always heard so many horror tales of Minnesota winters, but if they're not even as Beijing in January, then I think it's safe to say they're practically tropical...

Obviously you've never seen how hairy the girls grow up there to combat the extreme Minnesota weather.

Wow. LOL. And LOL again. Thats so true. But luckily, I was joking. Most of the girls at my college are of Swedish decent. Lots of blonds.
Northern Minnesota gets darn cold, but I guess China felt colder because we were outside, standing around large open areas, in the wind, all day. Some of our digital cameras froze, especially at the Great Wall outside Beijing.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but that Belgian hit was from a week ago. Some people's info doesn't always show up depending on their ISP or firewall.
