So which iTunes actually got it right anyway?

With all this griping about iTunes GUI inconstistancies, resource hogging, bloated swiss army knife functionality and the like...
Which version of iTunes actually got everything right?
I'm inclined to say the version that introduced airtunes (4.6?)- which made it the Best Thing Ever for me at the time.
And is it too much to ask for a music player only app?

I'm inclined to say either version 3, or 4. I'd say 4.6 if you remove the music store. In my opinion the music store really should be another app. I know why it isn't but still.

I'd vote for whatever the last version was that still allowed you to share music over the internet and not just locally.

IIRC, that was 4.0.
