So says Joseph Schorr:

Yes, Aperture does run on the new MacBooks, but it is NOT officially supported, due to limitations with the graphics card. You're not disallowed from using it (no hacks needed) but you'll essentially be using it at your own risk. Your mileage will vary with the MacBook, depending on your workflow.

Aperture is, of course, fully supported on all MacBook PRO models.

I find it hard to believe that Apple doesn't officially support it, considering the graphic splashed all over their main page has a black MacBook running it.

Edit: Wait, I guess that's just full-screen iPhoto.

I was curious about this. I want to use Aperture on an ibook, but I have to think that with the Intel graphics, it would be extremely slow...

Take a better look at that graphic... that picture shows iPhoto 6, not Aperture.

Yeah, for editing it would be very slow. It should be fine for RAW conversion (which is all CPU I believe) and organization though.

I tried running it on my iBook and it ran well enough with JPEGs. For RAW it was very slow, but part of the reason was that the CPU was so slow. I only had 1 GB on the iBook too (which is what I'll have for the MacBook), but I found that as long as you didn't load a bazillion things together it was OK.

No kidding... If you'll read the post you quoted you'll see that I quickly realized the same thing.

I don't understand why suddenly everyone "Needs" aperture to run on all hardware.

The software isn't getting that great of a reception and photoshop is the norm for editing.

Capture pro is the most used for RAW conversion on sets/studios.

Having played with both Lightroom and Aperture, I'm pretty confident in saying that Lightroom will probably run great - but it's a million years away from Aperture in terms of functionality !

The fact that you compared it to Photoshop just showed that you have no idea what Aperture is for. You should leave the commenting to those who understand it and/or actually use it.

Well thanks for that bitchy moment.

I know exactly what Aperture is and everyone says its editing skills are meh at best and still use photoshop. Makes you wonder why Apple made it work in conjunction with photoshop.

I guess I should have been more specific and said Photoshop and Adobe Bridge.

But why don't you all enlighten us anyway.
