Hi,

Well... This has been happening for quite a while but haven`t really been bothered by it... (hey i'm lazy)

Well when I restart my computer it comes up with 'you need to restart your computer. hold the power button down for several seconds'.

I then hold down the power button and then it freezes at the grey wheel bellow the apple logo. It just stops turning and just sits.

Then I use the power button again and then it works...
How can I make it fix this restarting thing...

That's a kernel panic. Try resetting the PRAM (hold command-opt-p-r at boot until you hear a second boot beep). If it still happens, you could have bad RAM. Don't know which machine you have, but see if you can try using a different stick of RAM.

I believe the most common cause of kernel panics on start up is a slightly loose airport card. Even just moving the powerbook around can cause it to come a bit loose (it still works, but just isn't fully seated or something).

Anyways, anytime I travel and get a kernel panic, you can bet it is the airport card, and re-seating it always fixes things; that is until it becomes unseated again.

Well I looked at the Airport card and it looked like it was sitting in there pretty tight.

Then i reset the PRAM, well then I tried to restart and then it had a kernal panic and told me to shut down. At least it didn't freaze when I started up again.

My computer:
12" PowerBook 867 Mhz
SuperDrive (Flashed) to X101 firmware, only thing i've noticed that it does is it makes the eject noise twice when you restart.
640 Mb
60 Gb

As did mine. It doesn't have to be very loose to cause a panic. Best bet to rule out the airport card is to just take it out and put it back in making sure it is tight when you put it back in.

Since you have a 12", take out the 512 MB DIMM and see how the machine behaves. As I said previously, you might have bad RAM.

What kinda of screw driver do I need to take out the ram?
If it isn't the ram what else could it be?
