I have an original MacBook Air, with the 64 Gb SSD. I love the machine for traveling, but the disk is getting crowded. I gather that the newer generation of MBAs have SATA disks, while mine has a PATA one, and that the PATA standard has been left in the dust by the manufacturers, although Google turns up a few hits that suggest that at least some >64 Gb drives were developed for this standard at one point. Does anyone know of any place to find a 128 Gb (or bigger...) PATA drive that I could put in my MBA?

I think you're still SOL. It's not just a PATA SSD but it's a 1.8" disk which means you can't use any of the more common 2.5" drives.

Aren't most 1.8" HDDs PATA? Up to 160GB, baby!

I know you wanted SSD, but space is space.

Otherwise, sell it and upgrade.

I think the dreams of faster disk access and better battery life were proven to be not significant.
