what i did was i renamed the house icon by just clicking on it treating it as a normal folder. Not knowing that later on after i reboot, i found another folder was created with that new name and all my preferences and data files were in it. But the thing was that all my settings change back to default after the reboot. Then I found that the folder with the new name, knowing that it somehow created this new file itself, i copied everything inside file by file and replace the one under the users's like copy paste.. well now it seems to be running ok but i had to reinstall some applications which was already setuped before i renamed the user "old name" to "new name"..
does it mean now that everything is normal?

I did that on my iBook once. If you want to rename your user do it in System Prefs.
Signature depreciated.

so has my OS been corrupted? do i need to reformat?

After doing so, for now I've customized most of my applications and settings to the way i want.
