Interesting issue. Does it do the same thing in QuickTime?

actually i did it. manage to play it on quicktime but its still the same for VLC. For quicktime, i can't enlarge it to full screen and upon doing so it'll prompt to purchase QT pro 7.

Any other suggestions?

iTunes can play QuickTime movies in fullscreen for free.

How did you rip the DVD? I suggest you use Handbrake and rip as mp4 with H.264 codec instead of avi with DivX. mp4/H.264 works flawlessly in VLC and QuickTime/iTunes.

I recognize the problem. Google vlc green horizental line.
Or simply do what I did to solve it: download the latest vlc nighly build and the problem goes away.

My post was a direct response to the one above it. I should have quoted, I guess. He had asked how you ripped the DVD. I was pointing out that you had pirated it.
