So I watched "Knowing" last night. WTF?! Spoilers definitely ahead because this movie isn't worth watching anyway.

First off, what was the point of the angels/aliens driving around in old GM products? They didn't ever try to snatch the kids, but instead they'd drive by and give the kid a black rock. For.... oh yeah, NO REASON WHATSOEVER. So then the Lucinda girl who predicts all the disasters... that cannot be averted at all... so... WHY!? Nicholas Cage deciphers them instantly, but then acts like a choad and tries to unravel the mystery of what he should do, even though it doesn't matter what he does. And why the **** did the kid have a hearing aid? Any reason to this either? NOPE. Just, let's talk about how he's not deaf, but needs a hearing aid even though he hears fine without it, and sometimes the hearing aid makes squelchy noises when the creepy alien/angel dudes show up, which ultimately doesn't matter either because he never runs away from them. They can sneak into his bedroom and show him the end of the world, even though that doesn't matter because he can't stop it.

What was the significance of all the black rocks? And were the kids supposed to be Adam and Eve? But there were many of them... and there was definitely a crazy tree, but I didn't see any apples to eat on it. This movie just pissed me off.

It was really bad. I think I saw it in theaters and felt very cheated.

Nice points Starman. There was zero reason the kid started writing down numbers, had a hearing aid, or was handed black rocks. The black rocks made zero sense. Maybe the aliens left them under the crazy lady's bed so that they could give him a clue to look under the bed, EVEN THOUGH IT DOESNT MATTER. Or they can leave them on top of the phonebooth, ALSO FOR NO ****ING REASON.

Gah.

And it was really more of a Sean Connery movie.

Cage's hair scared me 100x more than the movie did.

The wife and I watched it at home, and kind of rolled our eyes at each other throughout the entire thing. But when the "angels" turned out to be aliens in the end, we both got angry at the movie. Why aliens?

This movie was a huge waste of time. Horrible.

2012 will make Knowing look at least as good as Star Trek.

I think 2012 is KNOWN to be nothing more than a special effects flick, but Knowing was marketed as something different. Turns out...it was crap.

Lord of War is by far the best Nic Cage movie. Damn fine.
I could take Sean Connery in a fight... I could definitely take him.

Sadly "Knowing" was a better alien end world type movie than the remade "The Day The Earth Stood Still."

Those were meant to illustrate Dakar’s point, right? ’Cause they’re all pretty much typically shitty Nicholas Cage movies …

If you ignore his past decades worth of output. Looking at his more recent history, you have no reason to be optimistic about anything he makes.

I think so too.

Did you know he's a nephew of Francis Ford Coppola? And if Coppola's daughter gets to make movies, why can't Cage be an actor. Hmp.

I'm generally pretty tolerant of lame movies. I can suspend belief and just watch and enjoy pretty much any movie. That said, Knowing was the one movie in recent memory that I watched and actually wished I had that wasted time back. It was, to put it mildly, one of the Top 5 Worst movies I have ever seen.

However, I thoroughly enjoyed Raising Arizona, The Rock, Con Air, Face Off, Lord of War, Leaving Las Vegas, the National Treasure movies, and Snake Eyes. To dismiss a movie simply because it has Nick Cage in it is just plain dumb. Knowing was an exception, not the rule.

There is not a single actor or actress who hasn't starred in at least one bad movie and most have had more than one. All told, Nick Cage has been in a lot of solid, entertaining movies.

Perhaps, but I know which one of us doesn't want two hours of his life back.

From what I've seen, in 1990s. I don't go see Nic Cage movies, but they still play them on TV (Next was on recently), and whenever I run into them I find most of them laughable or uninteresting.

After reflecting upon the career of Cage, only one word comes to mind: Mediocrity.

Yeah, he's good enough. But is he really that good? Has Cage raised the bar to any degree? Are there any children out there who aspire to be actors just like him? I think not, my friends. And as a society we must remain harsh on what we deem as good, and harsher still on the deserving few we call super stars, and still even more harsher-er than previously imaginable when it comes to handing out those Oscars, unless the person is Marisa Tomei, of course.

It's important to keep that bar up there way high, lest we drown in mediocrity.

The sad state of mathematics education on rabbit picture websites. Any rabbit can see there are two pancakes on his head, not one like the caption says.

Everyone knows where you see one rabbit, you will soon see many rabbits. So they can't count, but they are planning ahead.

I don't think, with the millions that he has in the bank, that Mr. N. Cage gives a flying you-know-what.

However, your eloquence is impressive. Bravo.

Raising Arizona was a good film, but was it good due to Cage or the Coen brothers writing?

Thanks to the Coen brothers, no doubt + they must have motivated Cage in a profound way. But I haven't seen this in a while, maybe it's time to revisit for better opinion.

I know that an actor-scholar of Mr. Cage's caliber would insist on attributing the success of that film to baby wrangler Julie Asch.
