Greetings gang,
Tomorrow I have a "new" iMac coming to stay over at my house, which pleases me to no end. That means once again, it's time to install Leopard on a new machine, and proceed to bring over all my old files. Because I want a fresh start, I will not be utilizing my Time Machine backups, we're going clean. Documents, Music, Movies, those are easy to backup somewhere and bring them back onto the Mac.
However, I've always had a bit of trouble with trying to the same with my iPhoto Library. I am curious as to what is the best way you guys tend to back it up when the time comes to reformat. Is it literally dragging the iPhoto Library to a different location, and then importing everything back into iPhoto on the new computer? Does anybody have an particular strategies towards going about this? Much appreciated!

You might find this helpful: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1229

Or, use Migration Assistant. That will put all your files (docs, music, movies, etc) right where it should be.

That's exactly what he *doesn't* want to do.

Just dragging the iPhoto library into the new machine's Pictures folder before opening iPhoto for the first time ought to do the trick.
