St. Louis's own Phyllis Schlafly is a bit of a legend in conservative circles around the country. As a woman she famously campaigned against the Equal Rights Amendment to the US Constitution during the 1970s. Which I personally found rather "interesting" because that was akin to an African-American opposing the Civil Rights Act. But such individuals do exist and you just got to love them because it takes all kinds to make a world right?

Now earlier this year she opposed a federal trademark for the name “Schlafly” for the very good beer made by the STL-based craft brewery co-founded by her nephew, Tom Schlafly. But I just chalked that up to possible senility or something because she is getting way up in age so I figured maybe she just forgot that "Schlafly" is his family but her married name ... and that it's been used to sell beer for the last 23 years. I mean ... that's possible right? But with this foolishness right here she's jumped into full-blown wingnut territory.

I'm sure you realize that I merely agreed with your comment. And I used the term "Boom!" because I felt it so effectively exposed the rank hypocrisy of his criticism of my statement on its merits in a manner that can't even remotely be denied. At least not in any credible manner. But he's the "sensitive sort" and lately has taken to lashing out at members who he perceives to be in any way on the same side of an issue as me. See his attack on Laminar in the Bendghazi thread as a prime example. So I wouldn't hold my breath waiting on him to simply acknowledge the obvious if I were you. Just saying ...

In yet another desperate measure Democrats are blaming Ebola on the GOP! they claim the budget cuts are to blame, not mismanagement by incompetent asswholes, or the Obama Sequester.

"We're Screwed": MSM Caught on Hot Mic at White House Ebola Press Briefing - YouTube

Of course we already knew not to trust anything government said in their downplaying simply because government said it. And now after the case with the reporter in Africa we're seeing how all that stuff about it not being very contagious unless exchanging bodily fluids is so utterly false.

We had our annual benefits meeting last week. The Director of Benefits flew in from Austin. We were wondering if he was screened before he left.

You can breathe easier after 7 or 8 days, that's the average for incubation.

On a routine visit to my doctor, I was asked three screening questions regarding ebola. I honestly said "no" to each, having never been farther east than Toronto (or is Miami farther east than that?), so nowhere near Africa, ever. And no contact with anyone who has been there recently, and no contact with anyone with ANY symptoms that go with ebola. OK, fine there.

I think we're past that point already.

Even if the ebola already in the states doesn't take, there's still a buttload of people in Africa with it and too little is being done to keep it in Africa.

So now we have many unemployed, on welfare, few jobs, and massive corruption within the gov't and now Ebola. I guess the incompetent Obama admin has turned the USA into Africa.

Ebola may be mutating into an airborn infection. Our IDIOTS with the Obama Admin have NO CLUE what they are doing. They are putting our troops and National Guard into danger, and with the incompetent way they have allowed others to become infected AND THEN TRAVEL, you should be worried too.

Why do you frequently believe that you know better than actual experts?

For example, you seem to think you know better than what 97% of scientists agree upon when it comes to global warming, and you know better than medical experts (including those that have no ties to American politics).

I mean, it's good to challenge authority, but you never really seem to have a solid argument for doing so other than your fears of what could be, or whatever right wing politicians want you to believe.

Given how cynical you are about politics, why allow yourself to be riled up into a frenzy of fear when there are a number of scientists who don't even live in America that will tell you that the risk of ebola at this point is extremely low.

It would be interesting to see what would happen with your world view if you were to give up on Fox News for a month or so, and replace it with something like the BBC.

Ebola has been known to us for decades now and has yet to go airborne. There is no reason that crossing the Atlantic would suddenly make that more likely to happen imminently.

No, the fact that it's an RNA virus makes it more likely to mutate. The more people that have it, the more likely it is to do so. We've never seen an outbreak of this magnitude, so we have no idea what to expect.

More ASSmptions Besson? I don't watch FOX news AT ALL. I'd rather watch old Ray Harryhausen stop motion films or Breaking Bad.
YOU have a track record of speaking before thinking, and you seem to see everything as stereotypes, and soap opera plots because you are a poor judge of others. I'm no expert but I do know a little of the way viruses can mutate, and how incompetent our current administration is.

If you consider the current administration incompetent compared to the last one without watching Fox or reading Infowars or similar then 'no expert' is an understatement and your accusation of Besson showing poor judgement is lacking in credibility.

In what sense? Its my understanding that your system has corruption written into it via the process of lobbying.
I'm sure it happens here too but at least they are good enough to hide it and feign outrage when people find out.
