Hi guys, I am having some software problem with my iMac installed with 10.6.

The computer feel little bit slow, so I used Disk Utility to verify the Disk. The following message returned "Disk Utility stopped verifying "Macintosh HD"
This disk needs to be repaired. Start up your computer with another disk (such as your Mac OS X installation disc), and then use Disk Utility to repair this disk."

Can someone please tell me what I need to do here.

Thank you

You do EXACTLY what the prompt told you to do. Boot from your OS X disc and select Disk Utility from the Tools menu. Select the HARD DRIVE (not just a volume on it-the whole thing) and tell DU to repair it. Let it work and when Disk Utility says it's done, you should be fine.

Note that in some instances DU will tell you that it can't fix the disk without losing data-you should stop, boot BACK into OS X and use DU FROM OS X to create an image to back up your personal data and programs. Generally this doesn't even come close to happening, but it's a vague possibility.

Make sense?
