Can someone take a photo with both Graphite and QuickSilver G4 side-by-side???

I want to see how much brighter the QS compare to the graphite tower.

Nice setups fellas!

Makes my G4 400 Sawtooth look pretty pedestrian.

Mine is hooked up to a Graphite 17" Studio display, Epson Stylus color 740i printer, and HK Soundsticks.

Sorry no pics. Scanner crapped out a month ago. Need a new one.

Been itching for a Quicksilver put think I will hold out for a G5 whenever that comes out. Hopefully within the next year. Not much point in going with another G4.

Its called discipline.

Leonis: I was over at Compusa today and they had them almost side by side. It really is a big difference. The QS gray is much softer and after looking at the older G4 for awhile the white plastic and the QS gray almost seemed to blend in. Looked very nice.

Nice setups everyone!

UPDATE!!!!

My 17" Apple Studio Display is gone and it got replaced by my very old 14" Apple monitor

A few days ago I finally sold my single processor 450Mhz G4 and I bought in the Dual 500 G4 Tower for $2300 CDN. I sold my old one for $1700 CDN therefore I only paid $600 CDN for this tower

I transferred all the RAM and HDs, Radeon card to this 'new' six month old box and it runs like dream

I will get the Apple Care in October

The image here looks like the same but the tower is totally a different one

Updated spec:
-G4 Dual 500
-1.5GB RAM
-Two 47GB IBM Deskstar Hard Drives
-21" Apple Studio Display
-14" Apple RGB Display (spray painted into Silver and grey)
-Sound Sticks
-Epson 1200U Photo USB Scanner
-HP Deskjet 932c printer
-LaCie 16x10x40 Firewire CD-RW
-Wacom 6x8 Intous SE tablet
-Contour UniMouse
-Actions figures and toys like Doraemon, Shrek, Biohazard/Resident Evil, Akira, Final Fantasy, Buffy, Trigun, Garfield, Toy Story (not shown)
-The MWNY badge

BTW....the DP tower doesn't come with Zip drive. I bought an generic beige zip drive for $60CDN and get the bezel for $27CDN....when I got the drive I took off the front face of the zip and painted it in black with felt pen....after the ink dried I put the face back to the drive and installed into the tower.....people can't really tell this is the Apple branded or the PC OEM drive

I'll try and post some pictures of my setup soon but in the meantime, my college just got an entire lab of Quicksilver G4s! I haven't actually seen them in person so I don't know the specs, but I'm continually impressed with the support Macs get at my college.

You oughta run the SETI@home screen saver on those G4's when they're not use, assuming they have internet access. I know Team MacNN wants some help. Just an idea.

And you know, I would if the didn't have the MacAdministrator security settings set to prevent such a thing. That's ok though, because come spring...I will be in charge of all Mac servers and labs on campus. They're even paying for me to get certified and such as that.

Lucky me. I've gone from Mac hobbyist to Mac lab attendant to Mac Administrator in the period of a year. No complaints here. It'll be better pay, free tuition and a new Quicksilver G4 in my own office. Not bad for a kid.

I little late but they're still here none the less.

It took me almost two months to track down a friend with a digital camera I could borrow. Then, once I had it, it was a sinch to grab, edit, and post the pictures using Mac OS X and iDisk. Cool Huh? I think i focused my attention too much on the G4 and not enough on other components.

PS I have absolutly no idea why those pictures won't work. If you really want to see then try this link here

Hey, no use for a nick ,

Instead of running seti, you should participate in the RC5 contest. Not only could you become the most powerfull person on the team, but you can run it on the computers with absolutly no sign that its there. Also RC5 is very optimized for the G4 processor; you could really kick butt. Check out The MacNN website for RC5

I hope to see you on our team in the near future.

Yeah, can't even use a normal mouse any more. Although for any other punters who use the studio I have a mouse sitting there ready to go. (If you look REALLY hard).

Oh, and my heat sink is very little. Ah well.

A little off-topic, but you might want to read this before doing anything in that lab you are going to be running:

Oh my God, Cooter! How did you get your CPU to run at 1Ghz and keep the L3 cache. I have spoken to so many people who have said that lost it at 1Ghz, and it came back at 933Mhz. You are so lucky!

I have some pictures at a site created by me which hasn't been updated in Eons. Maybe due to lack of demand?

Macs Of Our Lives is where it's at. For your viewing pleasure, I've attached one pic from that site. No, it's not my workspace. I lack a digital camera, my scanner won't work with the g4 / macosx and my cheap camera still has film left in it...

<img src="http://www.macsofourlives.com/images/helixblue/images/P6070117.jpg">

Hopefully that isn't too large of an image...

There is a way around MacAdmin! That's how I put RC5 on the machines. You can hide RC5 really easy by using the faceless client. I will not dicuss on this board the way around MacAdmin. If you want to know, just email me. Those would rock on RC5.

I decided the best option was a Rage 128 PCI. I found a Rage Orion (Rage 128, 16MB) PCI on eBay and got it for $110 or so back in July. It's worked perfectly, and I am completely satisfied with it as a 2nd monitor solution. (My main board is an AGP4x GeForce 3.)

The only other possibility was the Radeon VE which, at the time, was said to be coming for the Mac (fairly inexpensively) "soon" -- it's been 5 months since then---glad I got the Rage 128. The Radeon VE will drive two screens iteself if/when it's released for the Mac, so for a triple-head aspiring person, it might be the way to go.

blakespot

PS - The B&W G3 400 had a Rage 128 PCI-66 + Rage Pro 4MB PCI

PPS - Note the KDS screen on the middle picture...it, and its KDS replacement BOTH died within 3 months of getting them. I will NEVER buy another KDS screen. Everyone I know save one person, who has had a KDS screen, has had it die. It's amzining, their lack of quality control.

Hey Michael,

The plastic covers with the three holes on each of your speakers are only there for shipping protection. Take 'em off - they'll sound a lot better.

BTW, Nice setup! I hope to have a similar one after Christmas. (Well, after MWSF )
