I'm downstairs 20 feet from the doors of the keynote theater, waiting to get in. We had to wait outside in the pouring rain for an hour, but we're inside and comfortable waiting for our seats.

I remember standing in line waiting for the Keynote at MWNY 2003. The time seemed to pass quickly being with other Mac fans.

Are you also in the VIP line?

Well, heres a twist. We DO have net access in the hall. There dont seem to be any rules either. The problem is, due to such a HUGE media turnout, weve been banished to an overflow room in the basement of the south hall. There are two huge HD screens, but this one caught EVERYONE off guard. I look around and see other members of the media also caught off guard. It seems you had to be on the approved Apple list to get a seat in the actual Keynote Address. Oh well, lets hope we get the free goodies at the end. -Brian

You're quite lucky to be there and strangely enough quite lucky that it's raining. Back in MWSF 2003 we had to wait for hours outside, until they finally opened the doors and people rushed in. I wonder how early you got there in order to be at the front of the line - 3AM?

The news usually comes in as Jobs makes each announcement, play by play, on any of the various news sites. I doubt it will be any different this time.

Most sites will display a lower bandwidth live event recap page in order to make reloads faster and less intense.

What tabs do you guys have open in your Safari browser?

For me, this forum, macnn's "live" keynote coverage, macintouch, and the Apple Store. Kind of rapid cycling through them and refreshing..... then doing a little work in FCP... then back to cycling and refreshing.... in fact, I gotta go now and do that some more! LOL!

Cut him some slack. There's a reason why the OS still has 3-6 months before it is going to be released. Now if this were released software or something that was going to be released today, that would be a different story.

It didn't sound like a bug but rather a user error on SJ's part, but I'm not certain. Hey guys, macteens.com has a really fast, complete feed.

Mail in tiger. Now search across all mailboxes. Integrated spotlight into Mail.
Finally. I've been waiting for multi-mailbox searches since Mail 1.0. This is the thing that drove me to Gmail and caused me to drop Mail in the first place.

iMovie
faster, more transitions
Mpeg4 video editing
Magic iMovie-plug camera in and let the thing automatically spool the video, and build your movie FOR YOU
nondestructive editing
HD editing in iMovie! Wow.
HDV 720p and 1080i
Demoing the app now

9:58 am
Cutting the price for ordering photos down to 19 cents per photo. The books really are much better than the old versions. I think this feature will really take off now. Hes showing a babys first book now.
new offerings
Hardcover: 11x8.5
softcover 11X8.5
softcover 8x6
Pocket book 3.5x2.5
20 pages minimum $29.99 for 20 pages
the other prices went by too fast.

9:55 am
okay NOW hes on the book stuff.
the sample images of the books are nice, lots of new layouts. He chose one and hit automatic, so it made the book for him. Now they have doublesided pages. You can move pages around, and there are some new effects. Theres one page that takes your photo and breaks it into a page full of tiny photos, all laying together as one big photo. You can even adjust the photos after they are in the book.

9:53 am
Demoing the book feature
he has 25,000 photos in iPhoto
Hes editing a photo now, changing exposure, etc. Nothing fancy, but its nice to have these tools in iPhoto now.
Makes me wonder if Keynote 2 will have this dashboard. LETS HOPE!
He just used a cool grid function to straighten a photo.
new slide show is amazing. all the cool transitions, and the quality on this HD feed is awesome.

I had never heard of macteens.com, but their keynote coverage is just terrific. Thanks for the rec. Big Mac!

btw, I am blown away by iMovie's new capabilities. It's really a gut check for me as a videographer that software this powerful is being given away for just about nothing while I've spent a small fortune on a professional DVCAM camera and the whole Final Cut Pro HD Suite. Wow, things are moving awfully fast!

Mackeynote.com:

10:17 am
Music Notation
John is going to play with Steve at the Mac
Johns playing on a Keyboard. Nice, theres a scrolling score on screen. John sang I didnt win the grammies for playing the piano!
Steve is editing notes ON the staves.

Multi-track recording
Recording 4 tracks for the demo
theyre doing TWO guitars and TWO mics at one time. Its about time!
All this is recording over a base of 4 tracks already in GarageBand.

10:14 am
GarageBand
Hes reminding us about the Jam Packs
Jam Pack 4, Orchestral
#1 request
8 to 8 track recording at a time
Real-time music notaion
Pitch and timing fixing
recorded tracks are now as flexible as software instrument based tracks
make your OWN loops
fun vocal transformer
Heres John Meyer again to demo it

10:12 am
nice animation in the themes
theres a moving marquee of movies and photos moving across the top of the menu, and he dropped photos and movies into the spots on the marquee. Its hard to describe, but Im sure well see demos all over the web today.
The interface looks pretty much the same from what I can see on screen.
Theres a nice wedding theme, and a claymation looking kids theme.
Heh, a baby mobile with movies in all the mobile parts.

10:09 am
iDVD
new version
15 amazing new themes
Animated Drop zones
1 setp DVD creation-capture right from Camera to DVD
All formats now + and - R and RW (not sure about Dual layer)
demo

10:08 am
Sony guy is now on stage to talk about HD.
Steve liked the camera so much he invited Sony to come to the stage.
Again, the year 2005 is the year of HD-in the HOME
They both mentioned Blu-ray DVDs for the new HD DVD format.
The sony guy joked with Steve about Just do the Software! Implying Sony doesnt want Apple to make good hardware
Sony will continue to develop smaller and cheaper HD cameras in the future.

10:02 am
man, I never realized how nice HD really is. They are running a feed right off a camcorder. You think DV was better than VHS, this stuff makes regular DV look like a joke.
we just keep making it better and better
current generation of DVD gives you a nice letterboxed version.
New camcorders coming out

There are two good feeds posted on this topic so I will stop with the updates.

$79USD

Pages is Appleworks, word and pdf compatible

Steve is back, lots of marketing hype

The keynote will obviously run somewhat over 1hour and 30 minutes. *dies of lack of sleep*

Pages supports tables, as you'd expect from a modern word processor

Adding a page is like adding a slide in kenote. looks to be built in cocoa

alpha channel shadowing, alignment guides as in keynote, nice sizing and flow

resizes and rotates images

integrates with iPhoto to include your personal images

Phil Schiller talks with his hands, and lists Pages features

template gallery looks like kenote on start
