Hi all.
A friend of mine who has had more eye operations than you can poke a stick at has asked if there is a way to do a high contrast video display with OSX, ie, inverse colours only on the aqua theme not the background image and what not. So that rules out cmd-opt-ctrl-8
any takers on this?

or a calming down effect for overly-positive people??
i love the way this looks (ok, that will wear off in about 20 minutes), but does anyone really know what this is intended for??

It's one of many options in the "Universal Access" control panel. Apparently for some eye conditions it makes viewing the screen easier.

It's for people who have trouble making out low-contrast images. Lots of things like this are available in the Universal Access preference pane.

Panther (10.3) will offer a new option in universal access that allows you to choose the level of contrast.

I guess i'll have to look into 10.3 stuff a bit more, anyone running and can take some snap shots of the 'improved' controls at all?
as for what is it for. It's for people who have poor eyesight, this guy is legaly blind but is able to see the computer screen if it's at say 640x480/800x600 on a 17/21" screen. But he needs to have it in high contrast mode, all the white in a 'normal' display causes headaches and text can't be made out.

Well, if he just wants the background image to be non-inverse, open it in photoshop, invert it, use the inverted desktop background, and do cmd-opt-ctrl-8.
