I know this is a total rip-off of Butt O' Sigh and StarfleetX, BUT I combined their themes, Iridium and Xenogenesis, to make Iridium Quicksilver. I think it looks pretty cool.
Tell me what you think about it...

the most direct wasy would be to replace the theme (.rsrc) with your default one. Maybe someone here can be more specific like where its at user/library/....

I heard a long time ago that OS X themes only work on Carbon app's... is that still true?

No. The Extras.rsrc seemed to have carbon and cocoa rsrcs in it.

That's not true.
When you modify the Extras.rsrc file, the whole interface widgets can be changed, and this changes will ocur in Carbon and Cocoa apps.
...V0id7, I want the theme too. I'll apreciate if you could send it to [email protected]

Well, yes and no. What everyone else seems to be forgetting is the "layo" type in Extras.rsrc. Yes, the graphics (pxm#) are used for both Cocoa and Carbon (assuming you modified all three "versions" of the graphics) but modifications to other resources, namely layo, only apply to Carbon apps. FYI, certain layo changes allowed theme-makers to move the widgets around (like moving minimize & resize to the right to make it more like Classic).

Looks great! But in my personal preference it would look even better, if the active pane and the toolbar would be a little lighter (or darker) like they are with Aqua. Is this possible?

I'm glad you guys like it. I'm having trouble figuring out how to distribute it though. Should i put it on my iTools File Sharing or will Apple just give the the old "Cease and Decist?" Otherwise I'll be forced to email it to the growing number of people who want it. Please tell me what to do.

Judging from what Apple has done in the past, I imagine putting it on your idisk wouldnt go down too well. While I'm posting... can ya send it to me too?

Ok guys; its going on the iDisk, but keep it quiet. You can find it here. I would really appreciate it if people would edit it and make it better so it evolves like an open source project. Thanks and enjoy!

Maybe this is a dumb question...
But what is the difference between your theme and the Xenogenesis theme...They look exactly the same to me.

Perhaps you could just put your theme at http://www.fortunecity.com/ or another free web hosting service..
By the way! Thanks for sharing your theme with us. I'll give it a go!

Nice theme v0id7
I wish MetamorphX worked properly on my system. Even the latest beta doesn't work (it doesn't switch the themes at all).
can you tell us where you got that great desktop pic?

I guess I answered my own question.
Installed it....Looks great.
I cant put my finger on it, but it seems much more rounded and full than the Xeno theme.

P.S. where the desktop pic from ?

m2bored: like I said its a rip-off of Xenogenisis and Iridium. Xenogenisis is really just unlined, colorless Aqua. I could have made it myself; all you have to do is open the pxm's and turn the saturation all the way down in a pic editor. I took the Iridium theme, by StarfleetX, and pasted the menus and title bars that you see because they looked so freakin cool! (nice work Starfleet)
I'm also working on some custom system icons that will have a Quicksilver look to mesh w/ the rest of the theme. Keep the good reviews flowin'!

Ohh.. It's soo good to get rid of those horrible horizontal lines again.
Some comments:
It didn't work very well with MetamorphX 3.0.1 in my system. I guess it thought it was the original Aqua theme. It said it had duplicate copies or something. Didn't work. Perhaps it's only my system that is a bit messy since I have been played around with minor gui hacks before, but I don't know.. I changed the files trough OS 9.
Changing the Appearance within General settings wasn't right. Picking "blue", gave you black or something. Graphite is as normal thought.
It might be a bit gray, especially when looking in the System Preferences Window, but it looks kind of stylish when you are in OmniWeb, witch is good. So in overall I am happy with it.
But still.. The best theme I have used so far must be the ResExcellence Glass 1.1.

I don't wanna have to d/l metamorphx. Your readme says to just manually drop it into ....version/a/ressources. I get an error that it can't be modified. Do I need to do it through the terminal?
I'm not too Unix-ie so here's a guess but correct me if I'm wrong.
cd /users/home/Desktop
cp Extras.rsrc /System/Library/Frameworks/Carbon.framework....etc
or am I way off?

mrchin, that looks about right, but you should first do a backup. You can do that from a terminal with:
cp /..../Extras.rsrc /.../ExtrasBACKUP.rsrc or something like that
You could actually do it from the finder though, I believe.

mrchin-
Hello fellow Jersey-ite : )
you can do it via the Finder (drag and drop) or the command line. But either way, you have to be the ROOT user to do it. I enjoy doing things via the command line, but admittedly, I used the Interface to do this. Just log in as root, type in your password, and do the drag and drop.
Also, It's a good idea to keep your old Extras, just in case.
Finally, just log out and log back in again!
I'm also not a fan of automated tools. Especially when it's something as simple as this.
enjoy!
-GregM.

i love this theme
thank you very much
as for MMX(metamorphX), i have the latest beta, and it works fine on my computer. but the thing with MMX is that it wont show OS 10 themes....only 10.1 themes....becasue if you use a 10 theme in 10.1, your computer will not boot up. so MMX fixes that. also MMX only accepts .theme format. and highly suggests the developers make it into a .theme. MMX comes with a program called theme packer, which makes .theme themes in about a second....and with .theme format themes, you can have a preview for the app, and most importantly your theme cant be ripped off, beccase it lets you put credits and such in the theme. its aall very easy to do. and i believe the next version of MMX is going to be a preference file. that you can access from your system preferences.....all in all, in my opinion i think MMX is a much safer way to deal with OS X themes.

Someone that wants to rip off your theme could easily change the credits. Anyone who does that is going to get busted on it no credit or not.

Oh, sweet mary mother of god... looks really nice.
I've been banging my head repeatedly on the keyboard since 10.1 came out, since I had to go back to the striped look of OSX. Iridium was my favorite 10.0 theme, and it's nice to have it again, in one form or another.
It would be nice to have the graphite, and the colored appearance though. 75% of the time I'm in graphite mode (with the normal aqua theme), but sometimes I'm in the mood for some color.
Either way, nice work. This is the first theme that I've seen for 10.1, and so far it seems to work great!

Uh, dude, he just posted the address of his iDisk where you can download it about 10 messages up! The good news is that it's still there which means one of three things... either Apple has stopped trying to squash theming (I haven't heard any reports of their attack lawyers recently and ResExcellence has had themes on their site for 10.0 for months now), or Apple has gotten bored with these boards and has stopped trolling them for harmless hackers, or maybe they just don't work on Sundays
Anyway, this is a very nice theme and I really think it keeps the best of Aqua while getting rid of the worst. It's really what Aqua should have been in the first place, so clean and simple and modern and professional. Right after I installed it, I went to CompUSA for something and saw WindowsXP on all the crappy new laptopPCs and almost threw up at the sight of that XP blue. It really makes Aqua-Blue look OK in comparison and it makes this theme look like the most sophisticated operating system in the world.

You really really shouldn't have put that on you idisk.. you will probably loose you account as many others have done. The easiest (and to me most obvious) way is to put it up at any free web hosting service. There are hundreds or thousands of them.

Apple actually put MetaMorphX on their applications page. And Apple never contacted me/did anything with all of the themes on my page. And the MetaMorphX web site has a link to my page and last time I checked they have nearly 8000 views. Actually I just checked, it is now 8820, so nearly 9000 views. I really think that Apple has stopped pestering us. That or they are really blind and have never seen these pages.

You can make the dock transparent with this app (Transparent Dock).
Those circles in the Dock are just pasted icons, you can get that icon set from Xicons The set is called: 'Nice in the Dock'.
