Assuming that "our small one bedroom apartment" means that you've living with a significant other, then why hasn't he or she dropped one of those iMacs on your head in your sleep yet?

I don't know, it's kind of... cute. It's like they're iMac refugees, or maybe it's an iMac adoption agency.

That many iMacs would be great in a television commercial.

Fish tanks or puppy homes? The latter would not make you a fortune I guess... Still cute nonetheless.

The 400s and 500s get 256MB or 512MB RAM and 20/30 Gig drives- the 400s and 500s run tiger
the 350's get 128MB RAM and 7GB Hard drive.. those run panther

I also have 333's that I load up with OS 8.5 and at ease 2 and set them up for kids

These can be great Internet and email machines with enough ram stuck in them.

My little brother uses a 500mHz one with the newest OS X and its great for internet, email, and Adium. They would also make great small media servers for things around the house.

Then again there are many other options for both uses

I see these as being useful as little more than a kiosk machine these days. Or something for grandma and grandpa. Other than the form factor, they'd be great as servers.

I have a graphite 400mhz running panther server doing web, AFP and NetBoot.. makes it easy when you can restore 10 machines at a time over the network..

We use a graphite iMac to record the sermons at our church. It works great. We have 10.4 on it.

We also use it to control the front projection system.

And sometimes we use it to present video if another input is being used for a keynote presentation.

I dunno, are they capable of running flash wiithout problems ?
These days if you can't run flash, you can't use it for internet IMHO.

the most macs I had at the same time was 42. they are all collected by the shipping agency. I still need a way to install 42 macs in the shortest time period.

I am green with networking, my specialty is desktops. What do I need to make an image and put it on multiple other macs? Software/hardware. Do I need Panther or Tiger Server?

Maybe your next venture will involve Spatula City.

Either Tiger or Panther Server will work, and all you need for imaging is here:

Mike's Mac OS X Management Software and Tips: Home

All the instructions are on there, but here's a quick and dirty:

You build a "Golden" iMac they way you want it to look. You then create an ASR compatible image of the hard drive using NetRestore. Copy it to the server.

On the server side you run NetRestore and set it up. You just basiclly select the "Golden" image you copied over as the one it'll use to image, there might be some server info you put in. The you create the NetRestore image. Next, you turn on NetBoot and make the NetRestore image you just created as the default NetBoot image.

Network your iMacs and Server, boot the iMacs while holding down the T key, they'll NetBoot off the server using the NetRestore NetBoot image, then click the button to start imaging!

Easy as 1, 2, 3... 4, 5, 6.

Well, they'll come with 10.1, 10.2, or 10.3 since OS X came as a bundle with the computer. The version of OS X would depend on the date the computer was manufactured.

I am entitled to think it is silly to keep dozens of computers piled all around a place of living. As you are entitled to think the opinions of people who can't read deserve less respect (I am obviously not illiterate, but you seem to have prejudice against those who are).

Poor countries don't need Macs. They need computers that help their country's economy.

No, these are the CRT iMacs. Not all 1G iMacs came shipped with OS X.
Most were shipped with OS 9.

In itself sure, unless there is a valid reason. And they have one.
I am obviously not illiterate, but you seem to have prejudice against those who are.
Hogwash. He never came close to saying anything desparaging about those that are illiterate. You owe him an apology.

Um, unless these people are given a computer for free, they wont have one. They aren't gonna buy one. Can't afford it.

He isn't giving them out to people that would normally buy computers.

So no money is being lost by the country they live in out of the deal.
