I know you can change the standard colors in iCal like this:

1. Click the name of the calendar to select it.
2. Click the Info button in the bottom-right corner of the iCal window to open the Info drawer.
3. Choose a new color from the pop-up menu in the top-right corner of the Info drawer.
To customize the color, choose Other, then make your choices in the window that appears.

But the colors you choose are only nice when you highlight the items, otherwise they become a bit greyed. Does anyone know how to chnage this, or will that be more of a hacky thing?
Thanks.

No they are not. When you have an item in our calendar, there is a difference in color when you select this item or not. When selected the color becomes bright, unselected items are, well, dull.

I just checked on my iCal, and did not see what you described. Can you post up screenshots?

Ditto.

Calendar items only dim when a different calendar is selected. In this case, the behavior makes sense.

Not here, I mesured it with Photoshop. I think you are being tricked by an optical illusion
Or we are talking about a different thing.

if you're running TIger (dont know about previous OS Xs)
- command + Shift + 3 for a screenshot of the entire screen
- command + Shift + 4 for crosshairs to select area to be captured.

then just post the screenshot to webspace you have somewhere (right now I'm using photobucket.com until I can find somethign better), and use the IMG tag to link ur image.

unselected

Anyways, you're in month view, where items don't have drop shadows and when you highlight it, it darkens to show you. This is not a bug.

Didn't know that. But hey, how do you get that address? I tried this as well, but no go. Thanks for this though!

Right-click (control-click) the image in Safari and "open image in new window." Address will be in the title bar.
