I would like to know what is at the moment the biggest size harddisk available for a MacBook?
Brand, price, pro's & cons?
Thanks.

You need a 2.5" SATA HDD with less than 9.5 mm height. IIRC you can get up to 250 GB with those specs. Western Digital and Fujitsu both announced 250 GB drives.

Is there any limit on hard drive size by the motherboard? My G4 quicksilver had a 128Gb limit, but I know the newer computers are higher than this.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

All SATA controllers support LBA48, so the limit is 128PiB/144PB (petabytes) instead of 128GiB/137GB.

Yep, it's available already indeed. I just saw it for less than $200.

Needed a 250 gb drive for my MacBook, but wasn't willing to wait for the WD Scorpio to come into wider circulation. Instead picked up a 250 gb drive+external case from MCE Technologies
It arrived today and is working well after formatting and transferring all my files. You'll need your own torx drive and small philips screwdriver to do the install despite the "all necessary tools" comment on the website.
The supplied drive mechanism is a Samsung 250 gb HM250JI SATA drive. The supplied mechanism may change in the future, but that is what was shipped to me. The drive fits perfectly in the MacBook and is as quiet as my old 120 gb WD Scorpio drive. Nice to have space again.
XBench results for the new 250 gb drive follow...

Indeed it's very difficult to find it. Here in France they stare at me if I tell them something about burning water: 160 is max, and I am crazy. I just wait.

Looks like the Scorpio's are finally getting into stock. Newegg now lists them as available for $190.
Meanwhile, I'm still pleased with my Samsung. 250 gb is a very nice step up from my nearly full, old 120 gb Scorpio drive.
