...so my wife's boss gave her a 500 song Nano. Does that mean it can only handle 500 titles even if it hasn't filled up the memory??? I hope this doesn't sound too foolish, but if it took 612 songs to fill up the 2GB, would it list only 500? (she's only up to 485 songs and has been too busy to do anything other than recharge it lately...)

500 songs is merely an estimate, it will hold and play however many you can put on it

the 500 song thing is apples, oh what is the standard amount of time most songs are, than they did the entire 500 or 1000 ect thing. just depends on the songs file size really, not the length, if you had like a live recording of an entire concert, that would probably fill up the smaller ipods. if it were a whole lot of songs, than yes, you can have more than 500, but again just depends ont he size of file. ya can have over 500 songs and the nano will still show them all with no problem. there are never foolish or stupid questions ever. thats what we humans do, we ask/do to learn
