Yup, backwards compatibility is great.
I suggest looking for a 7200 RPM model over a 5400 RPM model. It may be a little more expensive, but the speed you gain is tremendous. In fact, I have found that 7200 RPM drives, usually boost the machines performance (In EVERYTHING it does) by about 30-35%. That is a huge gain.

Take a look at the IBM Desktar 75GXP drives (you can get one on Amazon.com)
Great drives, great speed, and very quit.
