My question is, why?

Why does she perpetuate the feud?

I just don't get it.

It's probably both sides. For instance when McCartney released a CD with old songs a few years ago, the `composed by' reads McCartney & Lennon, although when the Beatles were together (and all along up until then), they (McCartney and Lennon) agreed to sort alphabetically. I read a story that McCartney was a bit jealous, because supposedly Lennon was the more creative one of the two.

This might be just a nitpicky detail, but I suppose they just don't get along, and that the feeling is mutual. Although I agree that you could let matters rest after so many years.

If you really think that then you don't know much about Yoko Ono.

But yes, there's no love between her and Paul. And I suspect there never will be. I am actually quite amused by it. She's turning into a cantankerous old biddy.

Re: Yoko & Paul & John & The Beatles...My 2¢

There's a thin line between love and hate. A relationship with him, even one of hate is still, (though sick) alive.

The only passionate thing remaining of the Beatles.

She sees herself as conservator not just of John's memory but his prickly and fighting natured side.

Religion is the feeble efforts of people to honor and worship deity. Ironic, innit, she makes this into a kind of religion?

Unrequited love twists and turns onto itself and eventually has little to do with anything but itself.
Give petty people just a little bit of power and watch how they misuse it! You can't silence the self doubt, can you?

IIRC, McCartney only wanted to change the songwriting credit of the songs he principally composed to "McCartney/Lennon" (like "Yesterday," "Michelle," and "Lady Madonna"). I can see why they did them all as "Lennon/McCartney" back then, but I think Sir Paul should definitely be allowed to change it.

Obviously, the feud is the one thing that keeps Yoko in the news.

But I don't like all these people

Heh.

I always mishear lyrics.

Whenever I heard that song in the past, I always thought he was singing
"Just to have you as my own personal penis."

Your lyrics make more sense!

What about the Michael Jackson / Paul McCartney feud? I think MJ did much more to piss off Paul than Yoko.

All Michael did was outbid Paul. Sir Paul should've been richer.

People just hate Yoko because she put the Lennon meseum in Tokyo and not in Liverpool.

I on the other hand say that if John liked Yoko... whatever man. Japanese women are messed up.

I think she thinks she's part of John and therefore the Lennon legacy belongs to her.

So much for all of her posturing and posing and preaching of love and peace and harmony, eh?

I've always felt that the Cute Beatle was kind of a jerk. However, as a musician, he has few equals in the rock world. His compositions are truly genius, and his bass playing is also excellent and perhaps underappreciated. As for Lennon, no one can question his brilliance as a songwriter and lead singer, although I found him flaky and annoying as a personality.

I love the Beatles as a band. As human beings, they were only average, with the exception of George Harrison, who was a truly lovely person.

Hi Cody,

I think she misses the lime light that she had while her husband was alive. This is just a way to keep herself in the public eye. Still very sad.

That about sums it up, folks. Whichever side you come down on, they're stomping on John's legacy with pettiness. All of 'em. (Except Ringo. Ringo is still cool.)

I have a hunch that ALL matters in this world are settled or influenced by the opinions or posts on MacNN.

SOMETIME or another after this thread was started, Yoko (I reckon) got wind of it and issued this apology to Sir Paul and now that it has reached MacNN we will get it out into the world and Paul will hear about it and so on...

Yoko: Sorry, Paul

06nov05

YOKO Ono has apologised to Sir Paul McCartney for insinuating that his songs are trite.

Accepting an award on behalf of John Lennon last month, Ono said Lennon sometimes asked why "they always cover Paul's songs and never mine".
"I said, 'You're a good songwriter, it's not June with spoon that you write'," she said.

After the apparent slight circulated, Ono wrote in the latest issue of Rolling Stone magazine: "I certainly did not mean to hurt Paul, and if I did, I am very sorry."

I read an article about Lennon's ex-wife not long ago. She seemed very nice and quite lovable compared to Yoko. She was talking about how John changed when he got together with Ms. Ono. He became one troubled man. I'm cheering for the ex-wife!
