Be sure to mention if you are replacing an older model.

Should be a poll. No, I will keep soldiering on with my mini. If I can sell it though for around $120, I would get a 3 or 4G iPod.

You forgot the "Own a broken one, not buying a new one" option.

None of the above fit me. I WANT an iPod again. But I refuse to pay that much money for something that breaks soon after the warranty is over and Apple refuses to fix it without me shelling more out.

As soon as Apple gets that problem taken care of, I'll buy another. Till then, meh.

The 8GB nano is tempting. though my music collection is around 30 gigs and videos/games are tempting, I don't really commute anymore so the 8GB nano would probably be sufficient. My 3G still works great, though, with a new battery in it, and the Mac Pro needs more RAM first, so I think i'll hold off for a little while.

As I mentioned in the other thread I have a Nano and a shuffle and I use the shuffle more because I am so sick of my own MP3's so I use iFill to recored internet radio stations (usually gapless) and slap it on the shuffle which is smaller and more durable.

I am definitely replacing my shuffle with the new one, with its cheap cost it isn't even worth thinking about especially since i got a few people who want to buy my old shuffle.

I've been considering this.

What and when do you think would be the next iPod though?

I very much doubt bigger res movies, because that would been they'd have to upgrade the new iTS content.

Not bigger rez movies but I think the widescreen touchscreen iPod is where the iPod video will evolve to or even become its own class.

So you think this is something that plagues every single iPod? If so, you'd be wrong. My iPod has lasted me for about 4 years and is still going strong. Long after the warranty, and after market warranty has expired.

But anyways, I won't be getting one of these new ones. Mine is old, and jam packed with music, but I'm holding out for an "all new" iPod. One that is closer to the mockups that are out there on the internets.

I have a broken iPod. Apple tried to push my buying a new one several months ago when it broke, but I held out. I was planning on buying a refurb, but with the price drop, student discount, and recycled iPod discount, it may be better for me just to get a new one...

Seems like the right trade-off. Then again, it'll probably be the end of the year before I get one. If I hear anything in the rumormill then, I'll consider holding off.

If you don't want video's get a Nano. They are great and you'll soon learn you don't want all of your 50 gigs of music with you all the time anyway.

Well I'll be using it primarily at work so I won't mind my entire library.

Trust me, the new skip stat should look hilarious on my iTunes.

Edit: I forgot, I will be enjoying video podcasts, though.

I plan to buy an iPod Video. I already have an original edition iPod Shuffle. I don't mind if this is an "in between" product. I don't really want a widescreen iPod, really.

My old iPod was stolen. I'll probably get an iPod video. Don't really care about watching video, but my library is way too big for a Nano.

I have a 30GB video and a 1GB (old) Nano. I'm a little depressed that both of my models are outdated, lol. I plan to purchase the 80GB Video, mainly because of the better battery life (my music collection is only 8GB). I might actually wind up watching video on it!

i've found that me thinking i'd use my 1st gen. shuffle as a music player was incorrect, i just use it as a thumb drive.

the new shuffle however i will use as a player as soon as i can get my hands onto one.

the other ipods are meh, i already have a video and a nano, so what if new colours and bigger hard drives, dont need to get something i already have something very similar to.

I didn't like the previous iPod shuffle at all. However, the new one looks promising. The tiny clip design changes everything. Seriously. Just clip and go. No arm bands or lanyards to worry about.

The 8 GB nano is nice, but I don't like black. I'll stick with my 6 GB blue mini for now.

The H.264 640x480 support on the iPod is nice, but the thing is still a bit bulky.

I'm still waiting for the iPhone thingy. In fact, I've been using my Sony Ericsson K790a as a phone/camera/MP3 player/video player. For music it's not so great because the UI is a bit annoying and my 1 GB M2 flash memory cards cost too much, but it's definitely a good step in the right direction. I'd hope that Apple can take the idea and run with it, with a release in 2007. The only problem with the iPhone idea is I suspect it either won't include a camera, or it will include a camera that sucks.

I have no need, but I'll upgrade my Shuffle for exercising, bike riding goodness.

Otherwise my nano's fine, my 60 GB video is still no slouch. I'm not really impressed. Gimme full wide screen "no touch" video!!!!!

I think I'm going to get one, but I'm trying to decide between the Shuffle and the Video. The Nano just seems kinda pointless to me. The 2 GB one is so small you may as well just get the Shuffle, the 4 GB one is only $50 less than the 8 GB one, and the 8 GB one is the same price as the 30 GB Video but less featurefull. Mostly I just want to use it for listening to podcasts while I'm walking around, so the Shuffle would probably be sufficient although it might be nice to have the screen so I can pick which one i want to listen to. :/

Maybe a shuffle or a 2GB nano as a 2nd iPod. I have a 40GB 4G which is basically used in the car now, so I'm thinking of a small one to have as a carry around player.

Or maybe an iPhone

Or maybe a touchscreen 6G (by the way, I'm thinking that if this thing does come out, the screen will be 640x480 to play iTunes downloads at full resolution.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

I have a 3G 15 gig iPod with a crappy battery (about 30 minutes, and I never took advantage of the settlement), and I'll probably get the 80 gigger. I rarely sync with my Mac, and I really like the idea of having everything on the iPod. It definitely won't replace the TV or laptop for viewing DVDs, but I could see using videos sometimes - for the kids in the back of the car on a long trip, periodically for movies and other stuff.

I'm a bit miffed at the lack of an edu discount, but the $50 price drop makes up for it.

Currently using my 1st-generation 5GB iPod, since my 60GB iPod w/ video, er, disappeared last spring.

Will be getting an 80-gig video in its place. Nice thing is, I still have an extra InvisibleShield for the 60GB lying around, and the 80 has the same dimensions...

I've got an original shuffle that I never use, so I can't justify buying a new one. I'd like a video, but I don't often watch tv shows/movies more than once or twice, so I couldn't justify that either.

I have one question. Why is the 8GB nano the same price as the 30GB video?!?! Who would really be stupid enough to get the 8GB nano instead of the video? Anyway...my 3G ipod still owns all the other iPods. Well...the 2G was pretty great too.
