Why does my retailer promise me that he sells me multispeed DVD-R's while he always sells me single speeds??

This is actually the third 'under 5 euro-brand" he sells me that my pioneer a103 recognises as 1 speed. Toast leaves the other two speeds (2x and 4x) grey. I tried "test speed" more than once on all different types..
grrrrrrr

How many speed are the original Apple 5-pack DVD-R's? They should be original pioneer DVD-R's which are known to me as 2-speeds. (these are expensive to me, being 10 euro's)

Since getting my imac I have written about 50 DVD's and all of them wrote at single speed they where not apple branded ones (princo i think) you can get double speed rated ones now but again these cost about 4.50 which is double the cost of the simgle speed ones at 1.99. At the end of the day though you are writing a 4.7gig disk in about 50 mins which when compared to cd writing is very quick. FYI the company I get DVDR's from is Blank Disk Shop a very good company and quick to deliver. this probably does not help but thought you may want to have the option of a different supplier.
