So I restarted and I open safari, fine and mail...and it just bounces and bounces and bounces and stops bouncing but won't load. I've forced quit, tried running a mail app from an external bootable volume, no go. What's wrong? Please don't tell me I've just lost a few days worth of emails....
Help!

no worries mr. dog-wolf.
Sounds like your preferences may have become corrupted.
Try moving your Mail preference file to the desktop (or just trash it).
Then launch Mail. You may have to re-enter your account information, but once you do all your email should still be there.

oh, and in case you don't know, your Mail preferences can be found in ~/Libary/Preference/ and will be called something like com.apple.mail.plist

Yeah I was going to trash the plist, but then I restartes sans the firewire drive and all is back to normal. Odd, but ok. I kinda forgot about the prefence file there when I posted this in a panic.
Still funny that the firewire hd volume should mess with my settings. Ah well no biggie, not used to stuff going wrong though.
Overall OS X has been berry berry good to me!
