Well, my web hosting is closing down operations so I'm going to have to change providers.

Anyone know of a good web host? Let me know your experiences, etc.

I already have a domain name (with a dedicated domain name company) so this should not be a problem getting things switched over.

Thanks,
Charles

I used vibehost for a while till they where bought out. They where the best I used in a while. After that I started using ish.biz because its free for 20 MB and I host a lot of stuff from my machine anyways.

This service looks pretty good. Does anyone here use these guys? Are you happy with it? Do you think they can stay in business at these prices?

i would rather pay $2.77 more a month and get 500mb of space and 30gigs of transfer. it comes in super handy to have both. they have a awesome control panel too.

and if you pay for a year in advance, you get 2 months free.

i also get $15 referral credit for every person that signs up and tells them that longrap.com referred them.

that is a super nice feature

i have a resller package thru MBS Host ( http://www.mbshost.com ) The service is amazingly good. not the cheapest, but i have learned that the cheapest usually sucks - you get what you pay for.

Tell Sam that Shecky sent you and he will treat you extra nice

I go through eDataRack. I’ve never had any downtime, and you get:
  • 300MB web space
  • 6GB data transfer
  • 30 e-mail accounts
  • 1 SQL database
  • free shopping cart
...all for only $2.95/month!

I have no affiliation with eDataRack, btw; I just know a good deal when I see it!

another vote for phpwebhosting.com...

i've set clients up on them as well and have never had a single problem...plus, the features that they provide in addition to the tech support is excellent.

Does anyone know of a reliable(good connection speed, trustworthy of their security measures against being hacked, and looks to stay in business for a long time to come) web hosting service that offers PHP4 and MySQL, with the capability to have weekly backups of the db data?

thanks.

I'm paying www.purenrg.com $7.95 a month for 150 megs of space, but they have AWESOME service and support and I've never had any problems. Key though, does powweb have subdomains, php forum built in, and all the usual frills? I might switch, because my portfolio is requiring more and more space, and the price is right. thanks.

i am not sure about the subdomains, but they probably do. the forums aren't preinstalled, are are super easy to set up. ask any questions you have on their forum here http://forum.powweb.com - they are a good crowd of people there

if you do go with powweb.com, please put longrap.com as the referrer if you would.
