So, I've finally gotten around to watching the Keynote.

I'm just wondering... What sort of mechanism is in place for preventing people from spamming your web gallery via a spoofed email address?

It looks like a very impressive web app.

You can restrict email access to certain people, with a password and such. But I suppose if someone were to leak that email address out there, there's really nothing to stop the spamming. Just don't be careless and you should be fine.

But I would like to see some sort of option where you can have an email sent to you when someone posts to your Web Gallery, giving you the option to approve or deny it before it gets posted. Maybe in the next update?

I think the risks are no greater then any other website that offers email access.

You mean things like WordPress blog posts via email?

Yeah, approve/deny would be a very good addition. For those of you that have run your own blog that includes a comments section, you'll know how persistent and clever the spam bots can be.

Can't the primary .Mac username of the owner be figured out pretty easily?

Yeah the username is the first part of the email address of each Gallery.

So, couldn't a spammer try the owner's email address for each gallery found, just to try to catch people who have enabled the email feature for themselves?

There's a random string appended to the username for the email address. For example...

[email protected]

Ah, so the email addresses assigned to the owner have that random string included? Cool, I guess as long as that is kept secret this should protect the gallery from spam.
