I've got a powermac 5500 (all-in-one) that has a dead CD-ROM drive

On opening the front panel and sliding out the CD-drive I realized it was a 50 pin SCSI CD-ROM drive

Will any SCSI CD-ROM drive work in this? (allowing for booting from OS9 CD?)

I had the very same question some days ago. It boils down to "most probably every 50 pin SCSI CD-ROM will work".
