I too have seen these reality shows with AL PB's and other assorted apple stuff. I really wonder though how much influence did apple have or where they truely Mac users?

Jonathan Ross on his film review show typically had a Ti-book on his desk. I never saw him touch it though, it was just a prop.
I sold my Alu12 to a production designer back in November. Not only did I give him a good price but he was going to get some money for using it as a prop on some HBO show. Deal!

Edina Monsoon seems to keep up with Mac trends in Absolutely Fabulous. The last series was an LCD iMac in the kitchen, the series before that it was a23in Cinema display and a cube!

Homer has a suspicoiusly iMac looking computer at one point in The Simpsons. Also his Mr X web site runs on an OS8 like screen. Many computer screen shots in the simpsons look like simplified OS8 screens. Bizarrely so do screens in Futurama, and this is the 30th Century. So much for the migration to OSX!!

The Royal Tenenbaums has loads of different macs in it as Chas as his family establish their business
Vanilla Sky features a 23" Cinema Display in a scene where he's participating in a video conference from home
I don't think either features a Powerbook though, so this post might be considered off-topic. If anyone has these on DVD, maybe you could post a screen shot? I couldn't find any on the web

For those who cover their logos, Apple did not pay ad fees. Yeah like people can't tell a Dell from a Powerbook

They used to have a 1st gen iMac in the kitchen in an earlier series.

Just saw some pictures of John Kerry on CNN, one had him using a 17 inch powerbook in his personal library. The photographer said it was the first thing he did after getting dressed in the morning.

Here's a photo of CB Hudson, lead guitarist for the rock band Blue October (recent hit single "Calling You") using his PowerBook G4 on the band's tour bus after a show. CB is a dedicated Mac user and loves to rave about his PowerBook.

Dark Angel is probably the TV show where I saw the more
Macs. Logan has a Cinema display (the old ones obviously),
a cube, and a pismo which he then changed for a Titanium.
The apple logos were always clearly visible, sometimes in
the foreground...
In Charmed, Phoebe's got a pismo which she upgraded to a
Titanium later on...
Oh and by the way, it was Meg Ryan who used a Mac in
"You've got mail". I think Tom Hanks had a Thinkpad,
but I don't remember very well...
Oh and please, believe me, I don't really watch all of these
TV shows... No it just that... er... I saw the Macs while
zapping during the commercials... :-)

i've seen several pictures of Dubya either using a Pismo or a Lombard.
in the movie Lost in Translation, Giovanni Ribisi's character has an iBook in the hotel room, and there is at least one Albook (i believe a 17") shown during the Santori ad that Bill Murray's character films.

Chappelle did a great parody of the switcher ads centering around the fact that he loved his Powerbook, and used it to hmmmm....view porn and pleasure himself.
The best line was: "I don't know what they use to make the keys, but they never get sticky. I am Dave Chappelle, and I am a switcher"

There's a Blue Dalmatian iMac prominently featured in the office of the hosts of the UK edition of "What Not to Wear."
Reese Witherspoon uses a toilet-seat iBook in "Legally Blonde." It's a funny scene, she's in a classroom full of dull black laptops and she proudly opens up her shiny tangerine iBook.
The Showtime version of "Queer as Folk" is lousy with Macs - PowerBooks, CRT iMacs, G4 iMacs, G5s. They're everywhere, it's almost distracting.

Peter Gabriel has always been a Mac fanatic. I noticed a TiBook in the sound booth at his concerts. On stage it looked like the computers were running a sequencing program on Windows. Hopefully I am mistaken.

I thought I saw Lance using one the other day on the Lance Chronicles. However, they use PCs in their engineering lab/wind tunnel at Trek Bicycles. They use a TiBook and a 15" AlBook in the DirectWay satelite internet commercials all the time.

Only a narrow minded, LIBERAL Democrat could try to turn a discussion of Macs on TV and movies into a political discssion. Move it to the lounge or keep your opinions to yourself OR maybe you can help Kerry find the medals he accidently threw away!

I think my hand would cramp up throughout a week if I tried to keep tabs on all the places that macs show up on screen, big and little.
Even on the ESPY awards in the beginning when Jamie Foxx is playing around on stage. They are just everywhere.

Not a powerBook sighing, but Eyes Wide Shut had an early all-in-one Power Mac (Performa 5K or whatever it was called). I recall reading that Stanley Kubrick was an Apple user, an he was thrilled with the HAL 9000 Y2K commercial which was released a few months before his death. Later his image was used in the Think Different ad campaign.

I think the producers of such shows dont intend and/or were not paid to endorse the product the computer is just a prop to them.
I notice the same thing with cameras used in the movies: usually when an SLR is used, the camera brand is painted over so they wouldnt endorse Nikon or Canon (rarely the brand is specifically mentioned; I recall Robin Williams in One-Hour Photo praising his customer on her Leica Minilux). I wonder if an Apple product was specifically mentioned by name in a movie? Anyone who knows, please advise.
In the show 24 at least during the first 2 seasons, dont know about the last season since Im waiting for the program to come out on DVD the good guys and those who collaborate with them use Macs, the villains almost always use PCs.
Actually, some viewers and almost all movie critics abhor product placements in the movies. They refer to the practice as hidden commercials of everything from cars to soft drinks and name brand logos prominently displayed. Some master directors have used product placements in their movies; the most famous example I can think of now is Kubricks 2001: the movie pitched PanAm, Bell Labs, Hilton and the most famous (or controversial) one: IBM. Many have commented about the HAL = IBM + 1 placement (accidental according to the movies screenplay co-author A. C. Clarke).
The makers of booze and cigarettes, which are not allowed to be advertised on TV in the US and some other markets, pay movie producers for the products to be displayed on the big screen, and eventually the images make their way to the small screen. The James bond movies are full of such placements (Martini, anyone?). On the other side of the spectrum, you have directors who go an extra mile to make the viewers look at obvious props: sometimes soft drink cans are just marked Pop or Soda, Quintin Tarantino uses an imaginary brand of cigarettes (Red Apples?) in his movies.

hey guys in "40 days and 40 nights" the main character works at a dot com company.. a dot company that uses nothing BUT macs! the whole movie just screams out macintosh. everywhere you look
oh and also the net flix commercial. the guy orders a movie from a pbook.
I saw dr. phil using isights, a 20inch flat monitor with G5 for his interview people and a 17inch pbook witth isight for his office.
in freaky friday, the teachers in the teachers lounge uses pbooks.
its kind of sad that its one of the main things I notice in movies now....
