A smartphone from
Gionee with a 5.5-mm body has gone on sale in the United States as an unlocked device, though it now forms part of the
Blu Vivo range. Previously known as the Gionee Elife S5.5, the
Blu Vivo IV retains the thin body and specifications of the original, and combines it with a five-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display.
Inside the Vivo IV is an octa-core 1.7GHz MediaTek processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage,
reports Phone Arena, and while it runs Android 4.2, it can be updated to Android 4.4. Offering a rear 13-megapixel camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front version, the smartphone has a 2,300mAh battery said to provide up to 12 hours of 3G talk time, though not LTE connectivity.
Available now, the Blu Vivo IV is priced at $299 through
Amazon.
