My computer won't stop trying to safe boot and won't allow me to access my accounts acting like my passwords wrong. Also it says Network Accounts Unavailable and certain other buttons function but act like I'm holding something down.

I think the shift key is locked but I have no idea how to fix it. Help?

What computer do you have - desktop or laptop? If it's a desktop, just try plugging in a different keyboard.

Did you or someone else spill something in the keyboard?
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

Its a laptop and nothing was spilled. A friend of mine did use it as a pillow but it was closed and protected in a bag.

Are you serious? Who posts a pic of their laptop and no actual specs/model number? If you truly want help you'll need to actually post a model number...unless I'm the only one here who can't read minds.

Look I'm not terribly good with computers alright, this is the first problem I've ever had with a mac and the first one I've ever owned. I'm sorry if I'm a little lost.

OS X 10.6.8, Model number A1278

Is there anything else I need to post?

Do you have Applecare?

Sounds like the keyboard was compressed by the screen/screen surround when your friend used your laptop as a pillow.

Is the top or bottom casing bent or dented in anyway?

When you close the display is it flush all the way around or some gaps on one edge?

I think I do have apple care.

There are no dings or dents and it sits properly when closed. Is there a button that can lock other buttons? I may have pressed something by accident. Also does safe boot sometimes cause problems?

Mac OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode?

Safe mode won't cause you any problems, but it will restrict some features, such using DVD player, audio in/out, limited fonts.

File sharing is disabled in Safe Boot, so you can't access other drives on other computers or Time Machine backups and so on.

Your being forced into Safe Boot because the shift key is being held down or stuck down in some way, again my guess its from the "pillow" usage.

Do you think removing and cleaning under the keys could help?
