All of a sudden every time I try to open the "Desktop and Screensaver Settings" from the system preferences is dumps.

I've only had my Powerbook about a week, and nothing else has given me a problem, so far...

Anyone make anything of the crash log?

Here's what I get

Hey, yeah, same thing happeing with my father's G4 ( 400 mhz) with Panther 7B85. It runs great but it began to quit unexpectedly when my father clicks on "Desktop/screensaver" icon. It sucks!?

I dont know why this is happening or the cause of it.

Anyone?

Can anyone reproduce this? Try specifying a wallpaper image from a different folder, I think that's when mine first crashed, now it won't let me access the "Deskstop and Screen saver" settings at all.

What happens if every screen saver is taken out of the both Libraries/Screen Savers folder?

It can be (although it should not be possible) that a corrpted file is crashing the prefpane.

I'm new to OS X. Not sure what you mean by that...

I've found that it doesn't crash if I log in as a different user. So there must be a way to set the Desktop and Screensaver settings back to the default for my regular user?

I imagine it's something in the /Library/Preferences/ directory, but I'm not sure what file to remove or modify...

Any experts?

I had this happen on my system. I nailed it down to having a non standard location for my iPhoto library. I am using iPhoto Library Manager to manage my libraries, but I don't store them in ~/Pictures. Having even a blank iPhoto library in the standard location fixed the problem for me.

Yeah, I think I might have read somewhere that it's about not finding something it's looking for (like the current desktop image or something) in the place it expects to find it. Really, this should have been an obvious case, but I guess no one bothered to check it out before release...Oh well.
