Personally I find it hilarious that you have the hots for my gramma. Especially seeins how she is 3x your age, and makes your Brittney-Spears-wannabe 30-something wife look like a rag doll who went thru WWIII with a burning stick of dynamite up her a** :)

Here's a baseline:
iMacG4800 512MB ram, CS; just Minuteur (timer app) open as well:
293 seconds
Mind you it is a horrible picture and it does look better blurred beyond recognition...

Dual Core 2.0 GHz G5 with 2.5GB ram Photoshop CS2 47.4 seconds
That's almost exactly what my Dual Core 2.0GHz G5 did, but I just got it today and still have stock ram (512mb). I'm really loving this G5's power (long time PowerBook owner first time G5 owner).
At work I have a dual 1.8Ghz G5 and that did 1:04, so :47 compared to 1:04 isn't shabby. I had someone at work test out this file on a dual 2.8Ghz Pentium (xeon) setup and if I remember correctly that did 1:26.

My 2.7 clocked in at 44 seconds.
I had all my usual Haxies and extras running:
ShapeShifter
Fruit menu
Windowshade X
Drop Drawers
Menu Meters
Spell Catcher
Clear Dock
Icons altered by candy bar
QuicKeys
Applications open:
Photoshop CS1
Entourage
Safari (two windows open)
iTunes
Preview
QuickTime
iCal
I gotta say I was impressed. Don't feel like safe booting right now, but will tomorrow or so and see if it crunches any faster.

3GB RAM
Radeon X850 XT
30" Apple Cinema Display

Sorry, man.
Look at this way... you'll probably get a quad MacIntel that'll beat the pants of my system while I'm busy still paying for it.
As an update, I logged in holding the shift key down to keep all startup items from launching and ran the test again.
38 seconds. Not too bad and also comforting to know that all my extra doo-dads aren't bogging things down too much.
(I like my doo-dads.)

Hi Spork,
I've done some real world tests...not sure how valid they are but it does stress the system more than just running the photoshop benchmark by itself.
In this test, I'm running the benchmark while I have doom3 running at 1024x768 on high and playing an mp3 as well as having a couple browser windows open and having messenger running. Note the doom3 framerate was not as high as the screenshot during the test. I grabbed the screenshot as soon as the test finished. During the test it cycled between 25fps and 60fps. 37.4 seconds
http://powerthings.com/pics/d3photoshop.jpg
In the next test I decided to encode a DVD from one optical drive while burning a data DVD on the other optical drive with outlookopen and winamp playing some music. 38.3 seconds.
http://powerthings.com/pics/encodingphotoshop.jpg
Overall I have to say I'm very impressed since my time running no other apps is 30 seconds flat.
Dual Xeon 3Ghz - 800Mhz FSB, 1meg cache

Who here is good at math?
Apple says the upcoming Quad Core should be 43% faster than the Dual 2.7GHz.
Then, how many seconds should the Quad Core take for this test?

Quad 2.5GHz G5 2.5GB RAM 10.4.3

Thanks Jasonhh.
Are you possibly using high end digital camera backs (Phase One, Leaf)?
I'm wondering how quickly those RAW files are processed into TIFs.

I've re-done this test using the demo version of CS2.
Ran it 3 times, each time restarting the app and recorded times of 19.3s, 19.2s, and 19.2s.
Again ran using a Quad 2.5GHz G5 2.5GB RAM 10.4.3
