Hi,
I have installed the above on my B/W G3 450 w/radeon but when I try and launch it the icon bounces then vanishes! If I log in as my wife the game runs.
Macplay says
"Thats because of the way you have permissions set up on the machine, you
need to contact apple."
not exactly helpful...
console gives the following "unable to get video mode..."?
thanks.

When you get it running on your wife's account, how does it play?
AFAIK, all permission mess ups can be fixed in root mode. Also make sure your account is an administrator account. That may a problem Also, under which account did you originally install it?

I originally installed it under my account, I have administrator privileges.
It runs OK with details and textures turned down. It has an annoying pause (<0.5s) when suddenly comming across an open error.
It plays better on my TiBook 550!
thanks

I'm assuming you also tried a reinstall. . .I only know how to fix the most basic priveleages problems, and I've already exhausted my small supply of knowledge.
Thanks for the info.

You'll probably require ROOT access to fix your problem. I noticed that when I went to try to move the Giants folder to my Games folder it gave me some sort of permissions error, but I have administrator access. I fixed that by moving it when I was in MacOS 9... I thought this may give me an error when I went back to the game in MacOS X.1 but it didn't.

No kidding? Did you read the specs for it before you bought it? It needs a vid card with 16 MB, the iBook has 8.

well there's a differnec between erquired and reccomended right? 16 is reccomeded for best perfomance but 8 is required, yet 8 is unplayable. Maybe they shoudl actually write realistic suggested configs and not bare minimum.

OK, problem solved!
I found the preferences in my library folder and trashed them - and it now works!
To improve performance, turn down the distance in the graphics option.
Thanks
