Need to check it out. Seriously, pick it up somewhere (maybe a bay where buccaneers hang out), and take a listen.

Favorites are "Moses," "In My Place," and "One I Love."

Yeah, he was a bad mamma-jammer.

Finally, a bit of change here.

Note the introduction of Dikta. An absolutely fan-bloody-tastic band. If anyone knows of any way to get a hold of their first album, Andartak, let me know. I can’t find it anywhere. I even wrote to the lead singer in the band (on the advice of one of his friends), but haven’t heard back.

Yeah. I’m trying to think of an excuse for that one (as well as Céline Dion still there), but so far I’m coming up empty.

Timo: Dikta, not Ditka, silly.

I'm surprised your computer didn't fold into a quantum singularity. A Celine Dion cover of an Eric Carmen song? I haven't been this amused since I downloaded a Third Eye Blind cover of an Oasis b-side on a friends computer.

I have absolutely no idea what a quantum singularity is, so for all I know, my computer may well actually have folded into one.

My server was down last week so I didn't bother to post. Heh.

Lots of good changes though. I saw 9 bands live last week. Woot! Queens of the Stone Age put on a rocking set and made my whole weekend. Saw Smashing Pumpkins on Monday night, exhausted from V fest the day before. All the classics rocked, yes even the acoustic version of 1979. The rest is rah rah, and 15 minutes of sonic wankery to finish it of left me with a sour taste in my mouth. Plus Billy's a moody c*nt. Other highlights: Modest Mouse, Cut Copy, Presets, Air, Robyn. And surreal moment of the week was taking new girlfriend to see Operator Please. Being on the door plus one. Oh well.

Ah, Dig Your Own Hole, perhaps the best electronic album of the era (Kudos for the Setting Sun plays, Noel Gallagher FTW).

Love Purple Pills. Weird psychedelic hip hop.

Modest Mouse is cool. How is Air live? I picked them up off a Levi's commercial that was backed by Highschool Lover. Moon Safari was alright but I thought the next album was awful.

Let's just say Air is more weed than e's. They were awfully late on stage, so I only got to hear about four songs (including Cherry Blossom Girl) before I had to head off to see QotSA. Moon Safari is a classic, but I haven't been a fan of much of the rest. They had a spectacular light show though. Very nice.

This is the way Billy handled being pissed of at the Presets being too loud during their encore at V-fest. Hillarious!

Yeah, I got Moby's new one last week (But it didn't show so I didn't bother posting).

Suffice it to say I am not a huge fan of his work from the late 80s early 90s. What do you think of the new one?

I like it more than Hotel and 18 that's for sure. My favourite is Everyday it's 1989, precisely because I was a fan of late eighties/early nineties rave. I've used that piano pattern in more than one song myself

I deleted the Eminelton mashup by the way. Would have been cool 4-5 years ago, but now it's just dated.

Yeah, Hotel did nothing for me, it's main claim to fame is I don't find it skip-worthy, which is a noteworthy given my skip-happy fingers.

18 has grown on me a lot. Still, I feel like the deeper it goes, the worse it gets. There's probably two decent songs after the half-way point.

It was when Everyday it's 1989 came on that I realized what was going on. I wasn't happy. I started hoping there weren't many tracks to go.

Maybe it'll grow on me a little on the second listening, like We Are the Night did, but I doubt it.

Yes! I've been keeping my eye on it. If any of it is as good as their Untitled track for the Warchild site, it should awesome.

I find this return to old style so much better than just blindly following the trends in electronic music (ie electro house) slavishly. It's of course not as good as breaking new ground like Basement Jaxx, but at least it shows that he's not afraid to keep to his niche in spite of everyone else. The niche being the ground HE broke that is, rather than Play-era Moby, which still would be rehashing. Reinventing old style rave might very well be the antidote to the rock-inspired "New Rave" and electro house we have now. (Not that I'm particularly against that either).

Well, I can't say I'm familiar with current trends. Hotel was disappointing because it was a purposeful attempt not to sound like Moby. 18 was semi-disappointing because it seemed like an attempt to capture the same magic as Play (I actually liked the 18 B-Sides album though. Seriously, Bed. Listen to it), which it didn't. I find this album disappointing purely on the era it's trying to resemble.

That was a mostly HAARP week, with some Last Night thrown in. The Chemical Brothers got serious play after seeing it on your top list the week before.

I have HAARP as well, but some of the magic is honestly lost now that I've talked to the tin-foil hat wearing dude himself. I am trying not to let it affect my enjoyment of the music. Honest.

I've read the allusions to his conspiracy theory love in wikipedia, but so far I haven't delved further, both out of fear and lack of interest.

I'm disappointed the CD didn't have the entire set-list (including a few key songs), but I'll be happy as soon as this site comes back online.

My lists have been BORRRRRING as of late, so I haven't bothered posting.

HOWEVER, Coldplay is releasing a free download of their new single "Violet Hill" on their web-site today. My love for Coldplay has cooled a bit since they haven't released anything new in so long (and it was somewhat disappointing), but this has me pumped up.

So go download it, beginning at 12:15 pm UK time.

I could take or leave the cover (I love Portisheads, though). I recognized Eno's name. Achtung Baby might be the only album he produced that I have, though.

Definitely an atrocious name, but I don't really care. I'm just happy they're releasing some new material.

The only frightening thing is that they say this album has a noticeable Latin feel to it. I'm trying to image a Latin-style Coldplay and...it's just not coming.

Downloaded Third by Portishead last night. I didn't know what Dakar's sig was about until I picked it up. Really liking it so far. It starts to drift into creepy ambience at some point when I stop really listening, but pretty good nonetheless. I'm liking "We Carry On" for some reason.

Alright, that's cool then. Because they're not in my top 25 either...

Actually, a lot of my top 25 are songs I don't even particularly like. Ever since I started letting my brother sync his iPod to my computer, Low by Flo-Rida and Stacy's Mom have become my top played songs. Man... 117 times for one of them!!! How does he do that?!
