How do I protect my iMac's screen while it's in use? I like dust covers like the ones from Radtech, but it's not very practical because in my family, someone is almost always on the computer. Trouble is, I don't want to sacrifice image quality, either.

Any suggestions?

See through screen protector? Is it really likely to get scratched or damaged? I personally wouldn't bother.

You don't have kids, do you? No matter how many times I lecture about not touching the screen, they constantly do so. Their friends, too. And my wife.

To be honest I've never seen a screen protector for a desktop monitor. I'd be surprised if you were (a) able to find one in the iMac's size and (b) find one that doesn't cause any image distortion. Every one I've ever used on any iPod or PDA has caused a very slight amount of distortion.

The iMac's screen (like the Cinema Displays) is coated for durability. Sure, you can't always force people not to touch the screen, but unless they press really hard it won't hurt it, and even then a screen protector won't save it. You're going to be cleaning the fingerprints off a plastic screen protector anyway, so I say just don't bother.

Maybe you could custom wire the screen to deliver a small electric shock when touched? Just a thought.

Personally, I get sharks with laser beams attached to their heads

Seriously, those privacy screens might fit the bill. For the most part, it's another peice of glass in front of the monitor, but you'd have to be right in front of the screen to see anything. Not sure if they make them for the iMac's screen size, but you might look around and see what's available.

I thought about this too, but it doesn't really fit the OP's requirement that it not sacrifice image quality.
