I am having a major problem with my XServe. Two similar processes are yielding the same result

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

I have created a folder on a site that I want only certain people to access. To do this, I created a realm for this folder, deselected "Everyone can browse" and added users that can browse. The browser should prompt for a login, it does not I get the above error.

Similarly with WebDAV, I have a realm where "Everyone can browse" and selected individuals can also author. WebDAV is enabled for the server, and for the site. I get the same error.

I believe I have followed all the steps for these processes, and Apple Tech Support has not been helpful. I am convinced there is some file or permission wrong on the server, and would appreciate if anyone can offer assistance.

Have you messed around with httpd.conf yourself?
I got about the same errors when I tried to upgrade PHP with the package from entropy.ch. I had to disable Appl_mod-auth (I think its called) and thats when I got the internal server errors.
