Having worked round the login weirdness caused by the latest security update, I now have a world of keychain weirdness, and I wonder if it might be related.

I can no longer alter my key chain via keychain access - although the key chain reports itself as being 'unlocked' I can neither 'delete' nor add items. I can't seem to store anything in the keychain via standard applications either - Entourage can't store a password for a new account 'in the keychain' - it asks me for the password each time mail is checked. I'm also seeing weirdness with Transmit (the FTP program) - "always allowing" Transmit to decrypt password from the keychain results in a blank password being sent. "allow once" still works thankfully.

Any advice appreciated
Peter

Thanks Arkham_c, this was an excellent idea. Unfortunately I got an error message to the effect of "repair failed". I have temporarily gone back to a month old backup of OS X 10.2.6 and am adding things one-by-one (less the security update for now) to see what may have caused the problem....

Cheers
Peter
