Can someone suggest some names of inexpensive DVD-R's that are compatible with the UJ-816 DVD-R drive that comes with the current Powerbooks?
I have some cheap media that no longer works. I get errors which I didn't get on my old Pioneer DVR-105.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
TB

Apple is the most reliable media that isn't too expensive. 4X is 5 for $9.99.

ae86_16v,
Could you let me know where you got those Memorex discs? That sounds like a good idea.

I got them at Bestbuy.com, for the past two weeks or so, Memorex DVD-Rs and DVD+Rs were on sale practically from everywhere.
Check out Meritline.com.

i was under the strong impression that 4X media wasnt compatible with the latest Superdrive (which only support 2X) and that they could even damage the drive. Thats why i havent bought 4X media DVDR from Apple (theyre out of stock on the 2X)
Isnt this true ?

It is not true for PowerBook SuperDrives. See this post.

Only on first-generation desktop SuperDrives whose owners haven't run the SuperDrive firmware update.

After a lot of trial and error I have settled on these... http://www.shop4tech.com/user.htm?go...cata=&s_cata=.
They are the best 2X media I have used so far, and for $30 for 50 they are worth a look. So far the only burn error I've had with these happened when I bumped the computer as it was in the middle of the burn. Otherwise, they have burned and verified every time.

Hey, I may be dumb here, but what's LG 4x? Is LG a company name? Also, anyone know what companies' discs were linked to by the above www.shop4tech.com link? It's not active anymore.
thanks!
