I have a Quicksilver 867MHz,and need a new video card. Any recommendation on either the Radeon 9600 or 9800? I cannot decipher the techno speak - is there any significant performance difference? I will not be using the video card for gaming, only to watch DVDs and the ordinary tasks in ordinary applications, running leopard 10.5.2 with the latest updates. Any advice appreciated.

The 9800 is a bit faster in relative terms, but they're both quite old cards. I don't see a reason for you to pay for the 9800 over the 9600 for your usage and machine age.

At $30 for a 9600, that seems like a good choice if you have access to a PC. Even if you do it wrong and brick 4 cards before success, you're still ahead compared to buying the Mac version.
