Hello,
I am on OS 9.1.
I have tried to sign into idisk. I have gone through the downloading and launching the iTool installer, and came to the third window where, I assume, Ishould enter my details.
The problem is that this third part is inactive, so I can't complete the process.
I have tried doing it in Netscape 4.7.6 and in Explorer 5. No go.
Any help and explanation how to proceed is welcomed.

Hi raygol,
Try going to the chooser, clicking on apppleshare, and then clicking on the Server IP Address button. You would enter idisk.mac.com for the server address. This will then prompt you for your username and password. From there it will mount your iDisk on your desktop.
enjoy and let us know how it goes.

raygol, make sure you have cookies on, and make sure you're not running a "cookie filter" like webfree. This was the one that stuck it to me.

Thanks for your replies.
My cookies are on, and I found the idisk cooky in my preferences.
I have tried ddiokno advise and reach the point where the chooser told me: Couldn't find the server "
idisk.mac.com"
May be my initial post was not clear. I want to become member of the idisk, so these are my attempts to sign in, which gave no results yet.
I'll appreciate any further help.

What kinda connection are you on?
Work, home, etc? Cable, dial up?

Do you run through a proxy server?
Firewall?

I use the internal 56 modem of iMac 500.
It is for home use through a dial up modem ISP.
so, I need that my ARA would work as it was with my OS 8.6.
There is no proxy, no firewall.

Yup, everyone, direct your browser to:
http://homepage.mac.com/cipher13/.cv...sit-binhex.hqx

And put that plugin in your plugins folder on Netscape or IE.
Then it'll work. Just log in

Sorry.
I have downloaded your plug -in but, unfortunatly, neither Netscape nor Explorer didn't make it.
I am unable to enter to the section where I suppose to complete my registration into iDisk.
Please help.

Hello,
I am on iMac500 with OS 9.1 NorthAmerican 128 Ram.
I use Communicator 4.76 and Explorer 5.02 (Only for this purpose....)
Are there any other details you need.
The MRJ is the latest. File sharing is on. Contacting internet by dial-up. Cookies are on.
Is it possible that the browsers are blocked when trying to load java.
I repeat: I am unable to reach the phase, the third one on Apple Sign-up screen to become member of idisk and all the others.
Thanks for any help.

okay: i could've sworn ddiokno's post wasn't there last time i looked.

anyway, did as suggested and downloaded my global iDisk icon via chooser / appleshare / server ip address. this works.

but i still have to do it this way each time: a convoluted way of going about something which should be simple.

when i hit my iDisk bookmark - posthumanus is there, waiting for my password - but when i give it, it sends me straight to registration (where it already has all my details).

i'm using the IE5 that came with office 2001.

in cookies: my apple.com / itools plug-in is enabled.

what gives?

posthumanus over, and confused.

well crap times two:

now i can't get Cipher's flash new logo: all i'm getting are little red squares with white x's!

all i've done between now and then is enabled appleshare and got through to iDisk via chooser.

is this a plug-in thing? a cookie thing? or THE thing?

gunna try restarting, then drink a beer.

posthumanus over.

okay: restarted and Cipher's logo is back, but the chooser / appleshare / server ip address thing is still bugging me.

any ideas on this? i've got cookies to ask me each time and they're not doing it with the iDisk page: could this be it?

i don't really want to give carte blanche to every site out there by telling cookies to always accept.

trial & error has thrown up this:

i go to the iTools log-in page where posthumanus waits for the password - but instead of giving it, i click on iDisk in the menu bar and download my icon to the desktop that way- success!

but: surely i shouldn't be able to do this without a password - or is it home computer specific?

my guess is that i should have appleshare limited to just me?

indulge me here, i'm new to this.

posthumanus.

Another option is to mount the idisk on your desktop via the chooser or network browser and then add it to your favorites (select your idisk on the desktop, go to the file menu, and select add to favorites). This will create a favorite for you... or you can select it and make an alias on your desktop. Once you have the alias or favorite, you can drag it to your browser toolbar and then you will only need to click on it to bring up your log in window... it will be very quick and easy and no longer "convoluted"...
good luck,
dave
