8500, shuts off on it's own.

After printing about 10 pages the computer shut off. i restarted a couple times. It would stay on for a couple minutes then shut off. Now I try the power key and get the start up chime but only half of the chime then it shuts off? What could this be?

Thanks

Max

some choices:

overloaded power supply
over heated power supply
dead power supply (see items 1 and 2)

There is some circuitry on the motherboard that actually controls turning on the computer too. (via the ADB bus) You might try unplugging the keyboard and mouse to see if that helps.

You also might need to replace the system battery...
